How do you/does your family

celebrate your birthday? Throw a party? Go out with a special someone? Or remain home/go about your daily routine and feel nothing special about the day like myself? It’s my birthday today, well actually in a few minutes, it will be over but I was curious about how people feel about their birthdays?

As far as I’m concerned, although I don’t really celebrate birthdays today, but I’d very much like and look forward to be made feel like queen:coolios: by someone ( I’m hoping I’d meet him soon :bummer:) in years to come. Enough of having no one to share joys of life :naraz::snooty:.

Re: How do you/does your family

i've had bad b-days mostly. So i will no longer celebrate my b-day because i have absolutely nothing to celebrate. i mean what good have i done by being born and alive? none.

Re: How do you/does your family

Usually I treat myself ... like buying muffins or may be dinner :D

Re: How do you/does your family

Expect less, Pay more

Happy Belated Birthday

^^ I feel the same sigh

:(

LoL. now that’s a good idea. But the thing is I’m totally brok:smack:e , can’t even go buy myself something fancy shamncy :naraz:

i am also not much interested in celebrating my birthday. i never hint anybody while its coming up and i always wish that this time they won't remember but my family and in laws still do not stop. its alright i guess. i always get presents that are not much use to me but still are nice. but i just pretend like i am so happy that i got them and that i am happy for the food and cake and the care and affection that all loved ones are showing towards me. but from the inside i really couldn't care less.

Muffins are not that expensive … I think u can buy a dozen for like $4 or some thing … isn’t it

^^ No, I wasn't talking about muffin but something nice which could cost a bomb. You know retail therapy :)? Muffins or some delectable cake would be an excellent idea but the thing is I'm actually losing those extra pounds during Ramadan and hence avoiding anything that could make me gain them back so yeah :D

Re: How do you/does your family

^^ haha … yea retail therapy might be a good idea

Hey u know what … go to costco and try all the sampling as ur bday treat :rotfl:

Re: How do you/does your family

dayum... so no one is into celebrating birthdays..

at my folks place, bdays would always be parties when we were kids... then we grew up and all our 16th, 18th and 20th bdays were celebrated... my bro just turned 30 and his was done in a big way cuz that was another milestone... other than those bdays... for all other bdays its just family cutting cake, giving gifts and going out for dinner

its the same for at my in laws.. its good to feel extra special on ure special day :)

Re: How do you/does your family

I tend to spend the day with my family. They give me presents and we have a meal.

Re: How do you/does your family

I tend to have a party/get together with family on the day. The day after my best friend normally takes me out to buy me a desi outfit- shalwar kameez, chooriyaan, earrings and a ring (I do the same for her too but buy her a Western outfit and some jewellery- it's just a little tradition we have) and a meal.

Normally go out with close friends after my birthday as well and we do something or go for a meal.

Everyone is busy and the older we get people tend to move away due to jobs, marriage, studies etc so it provides a good reason and excuse to meet up with your loved ones, rather than truly celebrating your 'birthday'.

For my birthday, I usually get a celebration from friends and family.

But for me, that doesn't count.

Instead, I do one activity that normally I would never do, or something that no one would ever expect me to do.

So one day in a year, I have the absolute greatest time of my life!

Sure beats spending a day in a sheeshy Spa & having Ivanka slap some mud on your btocks.
