How do you deal with people that are by nature condescending and insulting?

They are built this way. No other form of communication is known to them.

Their natural approach to things is condescending and insulting…how would you deal with them?

here's the golden rule - never play by their rules. either you ignore them or you give them a perfectly reasonable and polite response.

I'd suggest you end your contact with that person. If that's not possible, understand that you have rights as a Muslim woman and use that as your support.

Yeah, Im ok orphy. I am having a small problem dealing with someone I know who has bad manners. They just do not know how to speak without offending people. Usually, I ignore and ignore and ignore…but sometimes I lose my cool too.

Acting the same way means a fight or stooping to their level of communcation which I am not okay with.

This seems like a good option…I ignore already as much as possible. I have to work on those diplomatic and polite responses that will shut people up.

Of course I have rights as a Muslim woman but the situation has nothing to do with a man. More to do with a female acquaintance.

For some reason I assumed the culprit was a man.

With that said, I don't understand why you're having a problem with this. The answer's simple, just avoid the person.

the belittling remarks i think are to hurt but i pretend like i don't hear them, reacting to them will cause friction and arguments which isn't good for your health so pray to Allah to give you strength to handle such strong tongues, i think that's the only way to get along with them and make life easy for you.

And i think reacting would give that person satisfaction that they made you feel bad. smile, show that you're happy, show that it doesn't affect you one bit, stay strong, that would annoy them like crazy and hopefully one day they'll stop this behavior or get it back at them

If you have already been ignoring them a few times ... then they are leaving you no option but to :
1- Be sternly direct with them in any communications.
2- Talk to the point in a polite yet assertive manner ..
3- give them a tinge of cold shoulder but dont take it too overboard

The best option is to ignore until you can ..

I have ignored these type of ppl by pretending that I dont hear them but found out that its just feeding those ppl..they just carry on bluntly with their rudeness

now I have excluded them all from my life and only meet ppl who give me positive energy! :D

Used to reply back in same tone, but then i have found that telling them straight that their tone is insulting makes most of them to apologise and mend their ways atleast with me.

Ignore them, ignore them again................ ignore them and be extra nice. That should annoy them a little.
