I assume that you husband isnt responding the way you like him to since you are reacting like that one a random post posted by a random person like me.
You must be really frustrated since you react the way you do in this post.
I suggest that instead of writing the stuff you did here, you try to figure out how to solve your issues and a mature and constructive way.
Communication is everything in a relationship and if you are not able to communicate with your husband or if he is not able to communicate to others the way you would like him to, then try to figure out ways to deal with it.
It is highly immature to show such attitude here when you can spend your energy on something constructive with a positive outcome.

Your SIL'S PRIVACY SHOULD be EQUIVALENT TO YOUR PRIVACY and everyone on this board has agreed to that.

talk to your SIL that this lady asked about this issue, and ask her what should you tell everyone then.
when someone asks you a question about something that you are not allowed to tell about.
my husband told me something about my sil which she told him and told him specifically not to tell anyone. she hasnt told me herself and has been avioding for a while so she really doesnt want to talk about this very big issue with me. but hubby told me...
and now someone asked me a direct question about her for which I had no clue of how to answer cuz I didnt want to lie about it and by saying I dont know I would imply the answer anyways. I just said I havent been in touch with sil for a while but this lady could see that something wasnt right. and now I am afraid that she is gonna ask again.

I think it was wrong of your husband to betray the confidence of your SIL and tell you something that she didn't want to tell you herself. Since you have the information that you are not supposed to have, you should pretend to be ignorant of the information in question. Otherwise you risk upsetting your SIL, possibly embarrassing her, and also tarnishing the reputation of your husband.

who cares what the next person thinks? even if they think that ur hiding something, so be it... they can think whatever they want. As part of the family, you shouldnt even care about what the 3rd person is thinking about whether you do know or u dont.
If they think u do know and ur not telling them, it may even raise ur value in their eyes. Most people would just blurt out stuff... or would be very eager to. And unless, you really do wanna spill the beans, I wouldnt worry about anyone else
