Well, I agree with you on the issue of Pakistani dramas. But growth is also important in entertainment. Just becuz we have a great drama industry and music industry doesn't mean we shouldn't expand within those industries, right? And you see examples of the pakistani tv and music going places these days...why? ...because they're introducing new changes, experimenting, ya know?
So my point is, why shouldn't we do that with our film industry? I don't understand this paki attitude not giving two cents about the film industry. If you know your political science and social sciences, you will know that the art of film is an integral part of society and an identitiy to the culture of the land. That's been destroyed by the vulgarity of low-class uneducated folk in the film industry now. But why can't we improve our industry? Why the attitude of "its all gone to the dogs so lets just leave it as it is"? I'm a person of change and I think that industry needs change - that's why I discuss these issues on this message board in hopes to stimulate some interest in the current artistic crisis in our country and I seriously appreciate Andhra's interest (who by the way is not even Pakistani). Really goes to show where our loyalties are. Andhra - I think your point on Pakistani hypocrisy has just been proved by the post above.
I just meant to give Andhra some good titles if he was interested. If Lollywood can improve itself, great! Otherwise, I'm not gonna be losing my sleep over it like you.
Please, be careful before calling ppl hypocrites, this allegation is quite serious. If you're calling me a hypocrite because you think I watch Indian movies and get my fill of feel-good formula garbage and so don't care about the Pakistani film industry, you're wrong! I don't watch Indian movies! If there's some other reason behind that allegation, let me know.
I am not callimg you a hypocrite.
I am calling all those who curse Indian cutlure day and night and watch Indian movies on the sly hypocrites.
Wheateher thwey are Pakistanis are not!!
If you are not a hypocrite well and good.
Seen Lagaan ?
though i never agree with the kind of crap andhra posts every time but i must confess that pakistani movies are indeed pathetic
even indian regional movies like gujrati and marathi are better than the pakistani movies
pakitanis blindly copy indian movies they have virtually same star cast in every movie
1.shan 2.babar. and the third guy who looks like shan
pakistani heroines look cheap and thier dance steps are worse than the b grade indian movies which are very vulgar
2. pakistani heroines are not upto mark with the exeption of reema all the others are c grade there is someone called nirma who looks more of a man than a woman. and all of them wear a heavy make up which makes them even worse
3.pakistani actors are uselessly loud and tend to over act.
4. pakistan play back singers are hoarse they sing the way street singers sing in indian rural punjab .women with heavy nostriled voice .ugggggggghhhhhh.
i feel pakistanis have a long long way to go as far as matching the indian films standards and thier popularity is concerned

Kabir, I agree with you except on a few points - I think paki actresses are quite beautiful when they're groomed up properly. For example, if you look at their fashion photo shoots - they look cool. But on the big screen they do look terrible. Mainly becuz the actresses end up doing their make-up themselves. The same goes with Shaan. The reason why they act loud and stupid is the director's fault for not doing his job and the screenwriter's job for writing a flop script. However, again, my point is that films ARE improving and there are people who are trying to improve it (i've already mentioned them). they're quite aware how terrible their film industry is and instead of throwing rotten tomatoes at them ALL, I think we should give credit where it is due. Do you honestly think people like Shaan and Reema like working in a industry like that? No. They complain about it all the time. That's why Shaan took up to directing and his second movie - Mujhe Chand Chahiye was a pretty good attempt RELATIVE to other typical trashy movies. Reema is also taking up a film project which she will be producing. Maybe she might do well. I honestly think, Kabir, you shoud get your hands on movies like Tere Pyar Mein, Inteha, Chief Saab, Jeeva, Sangam, Rukhsati, Ghar Kab Aao Gay, etc and then criticize the WHOLE industry. Again, don't get me wrong. I don't think Lollywood is at the level of INdian cinema YET. Not even the best movies coming out of lollywood can match the likes of Mani Ratnam's Dil SE. However, RELATIVE to typical trash being churned out by uneducated film makers, these films ARE a breath of fresh air...
Andhra Mian, don't know why you ask about Lollywood! Anyways...
That's what influenced my comments back there sambrialian. Didn't mean offense - hopefully i just misunderstood the sentiment relayed by the above qoutation.
PyariGudia,
Glad you mentioned Mani Ratnam. He was the pioneer of kinda ‘Soth Indian/ Tamilian’ takeover of popular Indian Movies.
After Amitabh(I am talking about Amitabh the Star who can make amovie happen on his own), Bollywood films went down quality wise.
SOuth Indian style took over. Good Stroy, lots of technology. On the whole these are less silly than your typical Bollywood movie but that is only a question of degree.
Tamilians are crazy about movies. After that Andhra(Telugu Movies). THeoy pour a lot of money into it.
Anyway one thing has changed over the years that I could see. Audience no longer go by a big star. Nor is big budget a guarentee.
After pictures like Abhay fell flat, it seems to me special effects have no effect either
So the only thing that makes a movie a hit is good story and music!!
Otherwise NO NO!!
So an imported Paki film might still be a hit if is good enough.
If you look at Bollywood Box Office stats, it is a big crap shoot. A majority of the films are sent packing.

well pcg
i know it would take ages for pakistani movies to come to indian standards as far as technical quality is concerned but the thing i hate about pakistani movies is that they are uselessly loud and the heroines look so cheap and thier dances are so vulgar that they end up looking like a c grade movie
though i understand things have improved of late shan is doing a good job and i adore reema. and some of the songs are very humable like there was one "kal thi mohabbat"
and "jab jab dekha maine chand"
yet pakistanis have miles to go
On a related topic, does Pakistani Government give any tax breaks to 'Made In Pakistan' movies?
Like we used to have such a policy for Telugu movies.
If you shoot the movie within the state, you get a tax break, viewers won't pay less, but producers get an incentive to make thier films within the state, generating more jobs.
Likewise the viewer gets to pay less on certain 'Art' films, though I remember that policy ws a miserable flop. Nobody watches those 'art' films anyway.
You can't force culture down peole's throats.
There is no government support for Paki movies of any kind. Unless if you know someone in the gov't that you can pull some money out from. Of course, I'm not including the "gov't support" provided by perverted gov't officials who hire the more vulgar filmi actresses for personal performances in their havelis.
