The same exact way whites, blacks, hispanics, or any other race of people become “boyfriend” and “girlfriend”. Among the desis I know that “date” (including myself)…there really is no difference b/c the way we date and the way our “non-desi” friends date.
Guy and girl meet. Usually guy asks the girl out on a date. Assuming the 1st date goes well, there are more dates to follow. After a while (the time depends on the individual couple), the two people have a “talk” and decide they’re in a exclusive relationship. After a few months or a year or so…there are talks of marriage.
