how do people afford these lenghas etc?

I mean most of them are such heavily beaded, so where does the money come from? I fear that I will never be able to look anything like these brides as my parents would simply not be able to afford it!!

Approximately how much does a lengha…nice ..design…cost?
Can people share how much they spent on theirs?

Thank you

how do people afford these lenghas etc?

I feel the same way :( wedding in August and i cant find anything nice in my budget. sigh

Re: how do people afford these lenghas etc?

You will be able to afford it :) Dont get designer. Non-designers (like local or other vendors) usually get the job done in more than half the price! I know this one girl who was able to get a lot of work done on her lehnga within $1k (that was last year). Usually the prices vary from $1k -$3k from what I've inquired. And at times you can get it done within $1k.

You will be fine :)

Re: how do people afford these lenghas etc?

1k????? woahhh :p

Re: how do people afford these lenghas etc?

for a lot of folks $1K is a great deal of money......
don't worry about looking like the models and the pics that you see.......you just need to worry about being happy and you will look beautiful in shaa Allah.

Re: how do people afford these lenghas etc?

Yes true 1 lakh is a lot of money, never denied that (nor was I suggesting that). I think she got it around 85,000. This other girl I know got her wedding dress from Makkah (shop in Karachi I believe) for even less than that. There are options so don't worry. I was just simply trying to answer your query :)

& like Muzna said - be happy and inshallah everything will fall into place + you will glow!

I think a less expensive outfit styled in the right way can look just as good if not better than an expensive outfit that's all about the designer name.

Don't worry Coffeegirl, God is the best of all providers. You may not know this but many people take loans for their grand weddings.

Re: how do people afford these lenghas etc?

Personally I'm not a fan of those heavy bridal clothes. If you look at some pics in the bridal section, a lot of girls look like they're drowning in fabric and work. I think simple and elegant is the way to go but that's just my taste.

Re: how do people afford these lenghas etc?

please don't take this the wrong way, but given your other thread, I'd advise you to not think about weddings and marriage and stuff....

Re: how do people afford these lenghas etc?

I got my bridal last year for 90,000 from Islamabad, and I absolutely loved it!

I work and saved up loads so in theory could afford a designer (given the fact I also work in UK so taking into account the GBP-PKR exchange rate) but I hate the idea of spending thousands of pounds on a dress I will wear once or twice in my life. I'd rather spend it on something more meaningful, and we are - saving up for a car and house :)

Re: how do people afford these lenghas etc?

i was watching mirat-ul-uroos the other day. 70,000 was a big deal for them. so dnt worry you will find something nice. InshAllah

Re: how do people afford these lenghas etc?

i paid 35k for my wedding dress and it was beautiful. i paid even less (20k) for my valima one and it was even nicer. both my joras got stolen from our house a few months after shadi. i don't feel the loss as much since i looked good on my wedding and i didn't pay much either.

Re: how do people afford these lenghas etc?

actually i think i paid 18k for the valima one *

Re: how do people afford these lenghas etc?

I’m getting this made for someone, it’ll cost me approximately Rs 35,000 (this includes fabric costs, karigar charges & darzi fees)… only made very slight adjustments to the original desgin

Re: how do people afford these lenghas etc?

I am getting the same one done for a client and cost (alone) is coming out to be PKR 60,000. Different color, similar pattern and high quality material. It can in-fact be done in the price range of 35-40k however the raw material would not be top quality.

Re: how do people afford these lenghas etc?

and think about the large number of women that end up trying to sell their bridal wear after their weddings.......you have to wonder if they are, in even the remotest way, regretting what they spent.
