Understood. This is a complex issue with no black and white (for me).
As I indicated in that thread, technically you are correct. That in this specific religion there appears to be no room for interpretation. Since the lady has her own interpretation per her conscience, you find fault with that. And call her out on it. Fair enough.
However, your definition of who a progressive is differs from mine. And that is OK. For me, a progressive leads the way in fighting for equality FOR ALL. If the Church says thou shall not have abortion, a progressive supports choice. If the chuch (or old Testament) has unfair laws/passages against homosexuality, a progressive looses said unfair laws/passages.
These progressives can be religious. It is not either or. It doesn’t matter to them if the religious establishment dies not consider them Christians. To me they are both Christians and progressives.
Of course some of these progressives may be athiests.
Whatever I stated here, to me, as a liberal secular progressive, applies to ANY religion.
