I disagree that a more reasoned OP would have elicited more mature responses. Certain viewpoints get the same response here and usually from the same quarters.

You’ll notice that the mocking started with bashing desi culture but when the guy flatly denied supporting aspects of the desi culture that he was being portrayed as a supporter of, the track changed to how the OP wasn’t sensible enough for our sensible minds.

The crux of his post was that Islamically speaking one should mingle with the opposite gender to the point that it’s necessary but limit unnecessary interactions. Some people think that that’s too conservative an interpretation of Islam which is totally fine and could be argued without mocking.

What’s this fluff about ‘live and let live’ and ‘don’t force your way on others?’ He doesn’t have the power to force it on you so chill out and try to reason with him if you’re so inclined or simply let him live in his delusional world. What’s with banding together and making fun of people?

Southie brings up an excellent point. If it is okay to mock the queer lady in all views for making Islam suit to her needs, why is it ok for us to change the ruling on un-necessary free mingling of the sexes?

People have already outlined the clownish way in which he posted his opinion. How else would people respond, except with mockery?
