My whole Naniyal is Pathan & I have yet to meet anyone who thinks non Pathans are below them. We have family married into Punjabis, Kashmiri Punjabis, Urdu speaking people & even Sindhis.

While I take a lot of pride in my Punjabi heritage fact of the matter is Pathans are the most warm & humble people on earth. I have however noticed Afghan Pathans are different. They are very warm people but depending on the region they are coming from, sometimes they can be arrogant even towards fellow Pathans.

And yeah before impressing the girl, try putting a good impression on the fathers & brothers first.

And before any of that. Work on your education & career. Marriage will happen eventually.

You're right about this to some extent. Not all Afghani Pashtuns are this way though. Certain tribes from certain regions are very insular and rarely intermarry with other tribes. Also, some tribes have long standing feuds with other tribes which date back generations and they dislike or look down on each other for this reason. The arrogance towards other tribes you're describing usually stems from this.

I completely agree with your second point. Men are very protective in our culture and wary of random men approaching their daughters/sisters, so it would be wise for the OP to try to get on the good side of the girl's fathers/brothers if he wants to socialise with the girl herself. As unfortunate as this is, if the girl's father or brothers don't like you, it's game over.

Don't really know the difference between Afghani Pathan and Pakistani Pathan. Like I said, it's only some of my older cousins on Naniyal side.

The primary difference is that Pashtuns living in Pakistan tend to have incorporated aspects of Pakistani culture into their own culture. An example of this is food. Garam masala and large amounts of turmeric are not used in out cuisine. However, I've noticed that Pakistani Pashtun cuisine often includes these. Another example is clothing. Salwar suits, churidar type suits, lehengas and other Indian style clothing isn't worn back home but is sometimes worn by Pashtuns in Pakistan.

Other than that differences between Pashtuns are more regional or tribal.

Two of my cousins are are married into pashtuns, one female and other male, it took them time to adjust, though in both cases the families knew each other from long time.

Yes, Peshawar has a massive Afridi community. Also areas such Khyber Agency, Malakand, Kohat, Daira Ismail Khan, Karachi etc are home to big Afridi communities.

I'm Pathan and I'm married to someone who is not Pathan. The difference is that we were born and raised in Canada, my parents are more religious than cultural and they didn't care who we married as long as they were Muslim. Not all Pathan families are strict about marrying other Pathans. My cousin is married into an Afridi family, and 3 of her nands are married to punjabis. The ones who live outside the frontier are more likely to marry outside Pathans.

I think the many responsibilities that come with marriage will diminish a pathan girl or any girl's beauty for you, lol. They'll weigh down heavier on you than the beauty is at this point. First, see if you are even ready for such responsibilities. If so, let your parents know or discuss with them, but avoid getting into a romantic relationship with any girl if you know fully well from the get-go that you're not looking for commitment or aren't ready for it; people get hurt that way.

I used to see this Iranian Realtors picture advertised everywhere, I really wanted to meet her, nothing creepy, then one fine day we did business together. She turned out to be a very challenging person to deal with, When I see her come to my office now, I wish, I could hide under the desk and not have to deal with her ever. Personality and compatibility will outlast beauty.
