If you have dark hair don’t you have to bleach to get a lighter colour? I’ve only dyed my hair once and it was a red colour, it came out as more red overtones on my dark brown hair but I’m pretty sure even for that to show the dye must have some sort of bleach. Also isn’t that what highlights are if your hair is darker?

It is possible to get a good tint from dye without bleaching..

The sun can also noticeably lighten some ppls hair..

Alternatives to bleach - lemon juice, beer.. I have no idea how well they work or how damaging they might be tho..
