Great documentary but banned in india from releasing in theatres
I'm not an Indian, so I have no idea whether it was released in theaters or not. Nor do I know whether documentaries usually got theatrical release in India back then or not. All I know is that its was critically acclaimed and it won a national award. The content is what matters.
Same here. My concern is human beings and unlike you I don't have to be ANTI religion to become a human being in fact my religion is saviour of humanity and gives exceptional freedom and justice to humanity. NO other "isms" "humanisms" can do that.
Yes they’re cheesy melodramatic and unrealistic but that doesn’t negate the fact that bollywood films are agenda driven and full of propaganda against Pak and Islam. One or two films here and there don’t mean anything when every other indian films shows some bhai and villain as a Muslim.
Huh?? Islam doesn’t allow marriage between Hindu and Muslim. So Why does Pakistanis have to make silly films that abuse their faith just to please Indian film makers? Who has defined that a Hindu marrying a Muslim translates into tolerance anyways? What crap!
One flaw in logic. Pakistan has Hindus, Christains, Parsees and Sikhs also. So ur statement why Pakistanis should abuse "their" faith assumes that ALL Pakistanis are Muslims.

No, your main concern is religion. Religion comes first, human beings come second. Which is unfortunately the prevalent mindset in Pakistan. Human beings must come before religion.
You probably haven't noticed, but Islam, like all other religions, is constantly evolving and adopting to an ever progressive world. In 100 years time, people will most likely think its perfectly normal for muslim women to marry whoever they desire.
PK says there are more roads to salvation than one. ;)

The flaw is in your silly argument. Pakistan is an Islamic state not some secular state.
If by antireligion you mean that I put my concern for fellow human beings over any concern for religious dos and donts, which are merely a set of ideas anyway (and constantly evolving), then yes I am antireligion.
If by antireligion you mean that I hate/detest religion, and want it all disbanded, then no I'm not antireligion.
If someone doesn’t want to practise Islam then he/she is free to leave islam and marry or do whatever he/she wants. Pretty reasonable.
Its really that easy in muslim countries? No.
Perhaps pakistanis should start by showing to people, in movies and dramas, that its perfectly ok for people to leave islam? And we must be tolerant of such people. Would you be supportive of such a move?
If you’re intolerant to Islam and its teachings then you’ve no right preaching on tolerance.
Actually you've got it all wrong. Standing up against religious teachings that are intolerant, is the morally correct thing to do. Religious teachings evolve, and we need to push for change, when we see that something is intolerant. That's how societies move in a positive direction.
So are you saying that because Pakistan is an Islamic state, it should not make not make movies that may be counter to what is taught in Islam?
Which is why any movie from Pakistan (Bol and Khuda kay liye), can never be as bold as a movie from India (PK). And you can most probably never have lyrics written by a hindu and sung by a muslim, which says
Tu Hindu banega na musalmaan banega,** insaan**** ki aulad hay ***insaan ***banega
**Also, when you give religion that sort of power, that it can never be revised/reformed, you are basically asking for trouble.
Balthier dude the way you changed the topic from how Pakistan is depicted in Indian movies to how India is "more tolerant and makes better movies" is interesting.....

Topics get changed all the time. Beside I'm not the only one carrying out the discussion. I merely pointed out that India was making movies which portrayed Pakistan and Pakistanis in positive light too, so it was not necessarily as black/white as OP declared. I wasn't the first one to mention whats prohibited and disallowed according to religion either.
India makes better movies? Yes, most probably they do. They got better technicians, more resources and people who take the art more seriously. Indian parallel cinema is excellent.
The Earth, Fire, Water movies by I think Deepak Mehta are quite good. Bold themes. Mr. And Mrs. Iyer showed the dark side of communalism. My top movie of all time. Veer Zara.
As for shady Characters being muslims in Hindi movies, the other side is also true. Pathan shown as true to their word, brave and good friends.
Hindi movies for decades have made caricatures of South indians. They also portray catholics as drunkards.
you probably don’t know where such thoughts initiated. Sufi poets of Sindh and Punjab including Bulleh Shah and Sachal Sarmast said more bitter lines than these. Result: they are revered as saints by the people of land.

It is not a competition. Good is respected everywhere regardless of source. Or at least it ought to be.
