When you first got married how much did you help around the house? Did you live with in-laws? How did you find the experience?
Re: housewife.
I didn’t live with in laws and didn’t even know how to make chawal. Youtube and asking MIL for recipes over the phone was how i learned. I think I’ve come a long way since
It was hard since husband liked weird dishes I’d never even tasted, like keema bharey karele
I made a lot of mistakes, but that is how you learn ![]()
I’ve been a housewife for 3 years now.
Re: housewife.
I also didn't lived wth in laws n didn't knew any cooking, used Shan maslas, asking friends n families for recipes, finally now I can say yeah I can cook.
but whenever I m visiting in laws I clean my room n everything help MIL in kitchen.
it depends where are you living like outside Pakistan mostly you have to do all stuff by yourself, as my in laws are in pakistan n full army system maids and batman, so yeah no as such household stuff other than your own personal things

Re: housewife.
Same here Devilish angel !!
MIL has a maid for everything. One for preparing the meals, MIL cooks but the maid cuts and puts everything needed on the counter. One for washing clothes, one for cleaning and dusting and even one for ironing clothes ![]()
Here we do everything ourselves. I remember MIL was so shocked that I clean the bathrooms myself ![]()
Re: housewife.
Lolz yeah in Pakistan we have the same system for every work we have maids, my MIL earlier used to do lil bit cooking but now since new cook came she left doing tht lil bit also ![]()
Re: housewife.
I was pretty good in cooking before marriage and now can manage to cook for a large desi gatherings. Never lived with my in-laws except for when visiting them.
I am not a housewife though.
Re: housewife.
I think u dont have to be a housewife to do all this ![]()
Didnt know a lot before I got married… just some basics. My parents had taught my how to make sheer korma for some odd reason, which was the saving grace when I had to make my first dessert after getting married… a tradition in my inlaws
dont live with the parents in law (i guess BIL doesnt quite count as living with an inlaw)… I learnt most of my cooking from the hubby.. although I knew how to cook basic salans and stuff beforehand… my cooking style changed quite a lot cus the hubby had a different pallette (sp?) of food in comparison to my parents and sibs..
Stuff I didnt know, I spoke to mum about or googled ![]()
6.5 years later, I think Im a super dooper cook… LOL

housewife.
Lol the title was just what came into my head. I live with my in-laws. Me and hubby are students. I could cook about 80% of dishes before hand but my in-laws cook some different dishes which I don't really like but hubby does so I guess I'll learn them. It's a lot of pressure I guess living with in-laws. I can't jam
In pj's or be really lazy with house work or even just laze around in bed. Kinda miss home comforts!
Re: housewife.
Before marriage–I knew absolutely nothing.
I didn’t live with hubby right away after marriage, but I visited. The first visit or two after marriage, I didn’t do much. I didn’t know how to cook, so I would watch my MIL and I tried to compensate for it by cleaning as much as I could.
When we did finally live together, I started cooking and experimented alot. He enjoyed my experiments. It’s been 4 years since we moved in together, I’ve had my “housewife” times and my “working” times. I love cooking, but never have been good with the cleaning. :hinna:
housewife.
I live with my inlaws and in the beginning I helped but I knew basic cookinh like daal chawal and keema wagera. I learned cooking the susraali way from my mil just by observing and helping. I still cant of atleast am reluctant to cook for a huge gathering because messing up a dish scares me more. I hear you about the lil personal freedom you have to give up when you live with family but it quite a blessing when you are sick or just need an extra pair if hands!!!

Re: housewife.
Those who did a lot of housework did your inlaws' kids (or even own husbands) help much as well?

Can u cancel the account after 12 months ?
Re: housewife.
Lol^ Erm I was helping out after a week. And sometimes my SIL does help but she's a little lazy. If I'm tired though i do get people to help me. I am looking forward to getting my own place though where I can do what I please and cook what I want.
Did anyone have to learn their in-laws food or did they stick with their own. I think I'm expected to but tbh I don't want to because I dont like my MIL's cooking. :/ I much prefer my own cooking as it tastes a lot like my mums.
