Depends on the job, honestly. Some fields, taking a 1-2 year hiatus is just going to be very detrimental. I know people in my line of work who take like 2-3 months off, to go get married and settle down with their husband, and some go part-time + some maternity leave when they have kids. Again, depends on the field, really.
But outside my field, yeah I know a lot who have left behind their work, to stay at home. Some eventually picked up their work again, or some just took those skills and used them in other ways.
It really depends on what you want to do, how tired you are, how much your husband makes, whether he prefers a stay at home wife, and your own work ethic/drive.
