So how old were u when u started doing chores? Knowing your own childhood xperience, will you do the exact same with your kids as you were raised to do or would you do things differently wiht your kids (make them do less/more)?
I just feel like bragging, that I actually cleaned the bathroom (including the toilet!!!) a few days ago (on top of other stuff i’ve done for a while)…I told my parents and they said “abh tum ghar-wali hogee ho”
looking at the responses i am reminded of my mum's pet line
'girls who dont work in parent's house then have to work in husband's house. its sweet revenge plotted by karma'
wow u lucky gurls. i started doing chores at the age of 10.. my younger brother was born and our AYA took off ( during summer vacation).. my brother was 3 months old and i hd to take care of him while my mom would go to work.. including the nappies, and bathing and all.. i also remember the jharo and pakaoing rotian when THat gurl would decide not to show up… i Hate it all then. and i really dont think i will have my daughter start that early.. atleast not all alone.. Hopefully atleast:snooty:
Awwww on the bright side you will get all the sawab for being a useful daughter. In your case Maha i hope my mum's ominous prediction was right in after marriage life.
but i willl not let my daughter do many house chores because as CROUQET said they have to do it when they are in their own home or living with in-laws.:(
im 21 now and have been a doing a bit of cooking when i enjoy it, and cleaning (my room). other than helping my mom with other household chores when she needs it.
I didnt do ANY housework until the age of 23! I am an only child so i was spoilt in a big way, i wouldnt even get my own water! However when i got married at 23 and moved far far away from my parents i had to get myself together:bummer:. It was really hard to start off with but now almost 4years and 2kids down the line its getting easier! Its still tiring but atleast i know what i have to do now!
I would def get my girls to start doing chores at an early age.Get them started around 11-12 because then when they move out and have their own responsiblities they wont find it so hard to cope!
If i remember correctly i started at around 14-15 years old. At times when we are home, my sis and i like to cook. On some days i also make rotis and salan, do the dishes etc. After all, i cant be an adult living in my parent's house and treating them like my servants. Its kind of embarrassing seeing your mother doing the housework while you sit around.
i do the bathroom, living room, bedroom, dishes etc. - i mean, i live in my own place so if i didn't, it would look like ass and i'd probably have bugs. ewwww
but i HATE laundry and cooking. those two and me are never going to be friends. the fiance is in charge of picking up my laundry and his, and dropping them to this laundromat near his work that washes, dries AND folds for us- heaven!! and cooking, well.... his grandmother cooks for us :P once in a while, i'll attempt some desi food when i miss mom food too much, but thats not a lot. i love baking though- so desserts are never an issue for us! haha
im a bit nervous about cooking with kids... i cant even get my act together for the two of us, i think my kids will grow up on take away! :/
