My friend lost 20lbs in the past 3-4 months with Hot Yoga. So basically you do yoga at 106F for an hour.

So yeah. What do you all think?

Re: Hot Yoga
The more you sweat the more you burn. Not something alarmingly new imho.
Edit: Obviously you cannot be sitting idle in a heated room to certain temperatures and expect to lose amounts of fat, you exercise, stretch, burn calories in that very heated environment and hence lose fat.
Re: Hot Yoga
I LOVE IT!!!
It makes you feel amazing afterwards and fantastic for weight loss!
Re: Hot Yoga
Seeing the thread title I was expecting you to have put up a video of Kareena (
) doing yoga
Re: Hot Yoga
You can lose 20 lbs in 3-4 months with basically any kinda workout.
Re: Hot Yoga
it's worth a try. My sister does bikram and her flexibility has really increased by it's not easy and sometimes in the summer - hot yoga is umm is very sweaty and HOT.
Re: Hot Yoga
yoga makes me happy. (esp if i am at the last row in class.. jk jk)
Re: Hot Yoga
The introductory cost is $7 per lesson for 7 lessons. I’m not sure how after that.
Anyway, like Saj said above, you could lose that kind of weight with any good workout in that period of time. The only additional thing is that you feel very refreshed and “cleansed.” ![]()

It’s only for fat aunts and uncles… ![]()
Re: Hot Yoga
Planning to go for this tomorrow. Wll report back if I survive.
Re: Hot Yoga
I had my first session of Bikram the other day. I DIED!! The first 40 minutes I was able to keep up, but after that I pretty much lay in a heap on the floor until the 90 minutes were up. I was told that for the first few sessions, your only goal is to STAY IN THE ROOM at all costs (unless you're feeling very sick). You have to get used to the crazy heat and make sure you're well hydrated throughout the day. Yes you can quickly lose weight, but a lot of that is water weight. You have to push yourself physically.
Coming out of the session, I swore I would never go back, but now I'm planning on going back. You have to really push yourself to improve and get used to it.
Re: Hot Yoga
I'd like to try it, but I checked the prices... $20 a class, expensive :/
Re: Hot Yoga
My friend does it and loves it. She said its really tough at first, but once you get the hang of it, its amazing

Keep an eye out for deals in your area. Yoga places release deals all the time. I got my Bikram yoga package as a deal on Groupon - 30 classes for 30 dollars! Great if you want to just give it a try - nothing to lose!
Re: Hot Yoga
I used to do Moksha (almost the same as Bikram). Its the best in winter time! But you have to make sure you drink enough water, cause you sweat like crazy, even if your not moving. But it is really good to lose weight, tone your body and get rid of toxins in your body.
Re: Hot Yoga
I haven't gone because someone said it's too hard and not worth the trouble.
Oh help me guppies. Should I go? I have a coupon...$7 for 7 classes.
Re: Hot Yoga
^use the coupon.
Re: Hot Yoga
106 F? I think I would get heat stress, but then women are very versatile, as seen here in winter where men would be covered, but women would be out wearing short skirts and dresses. :)
Re: Hot Yoga
One of my friends swears by it and she looks absolutely amazing.. she had alot of back pain due to long lab hours and has completely cured her pain through this.. also her skin looks flawless :) - I would have ran to the classes if i had that coupon cuz its not very cheap :(
Re: Hot Yoga
I’ve seen it work really well for a girl I know … personally, I did it 20 times in September and it did nothing for me other than make me feel good. It did tone certain areas, but I don’t think it is the same as running. I did a bit of research on it and it claims you can burn 1,500 calories in one session … I just don’t think that is realistic cause I didn’t lose any weight. ![]()
