The former Australian batsman David Hookes has come down heavily on Bangladesh’s cricket status, saying that Steve Waugh’s Australians should humiliate them in the two-Test series that starts next week.
Hookes, now a prominent television commentator, sees a possibility of both Tests turning out to be one-day affairs. “Steve Waugh should send them in to bat, bowl them out before lunch, bat until tea and declare, then send them back in and roll them again before stumps,” he said. “It could be all over and done with in a day. The reality is that Bangladesh doesn’t deserve to be in Test cricket and they certainly shouldn’t be given any favours out on the field.”
Hookes added: “If the Australian team is being true to the Test cap, their aim will be go to out there and annihilate Bangladesh.”
Australia, Test cricket’s strongest side, take on Bangladesh in two Tests - starting at Darwin on July 18 and Cairns on July 25 - in a series that could see many new records set.
Why is BD singled out for taking their test status if they lose the test within 2 days ? Have we taken TEST status back from other test playing nations who have lost the tests in 2 days ??
I think they should have taken Indian test status back when they couldn't chase 120 to win in a test match not so long ago. The batting line-up included Rahul, Sachin and Ganguly.

Then again, no team has lost 18 of their 19 test matches in a row. And I am pretty sure you are refering to Pakistan's loss in 2 days to Australia in Sharjah but thats a different story.

Funguy, stop being a hypocrite, this discussion is about losing a test match in 2 days and according to the logic given by your pals They should also have taken the status of Pakistan back when they lost to this Australian Side within 2 days.
When was the last time Pakistan lost 18 out of 19 test matches on trot.
Or when was the last time Pakistan couldn’t win a series outside home for 18 years.

Umair316 - so when you lose it is a different story ??
I wasn't referring to Pakistan alone (untill my last Post), I was referring to all the countries who have lost Test matches within 2 days and that is almost 15 times.
CL - Taking the Test Status back and leaving the Cricket Development in Bangladesh on its own is the Easy way out for ICC. The right way is to help Bangladesh build a proper domestic structure.

Thats one thing Mr Dalmiya should have thought about before giving the status to Bangladesh. He only did for his own pleasure.
If you really want help countries develop the image of cricket then why not give status to Kenya, Holland, Namibia, UAE, Canada, USA, Nepal, so cricket can develop in those countries as well.
Bangladesh has not improved a single bit since 2000. They have yet to pull off a single upset even against Zimbabwe.
I still remember Zimbabwe were very impressive in their first couple of series, eventhough they lost most of them but they gave a little resistence against the opposition, Bangladesh has mostly fell flat in most of the matches inside 3 days.
So Xtreme - Are you saying that Holland, Namibia, Bangladesh were all good enough to compete for the world Cup ?? If not then what was the criteria for them to play with the Big Boys ??
Umair316 - Dont be so defensive. When I use the same criteria on your team you go and fetch the history if 18 years ?? Still you are wrong, Go and check India's Series by Series performance and your will know the kind of LIAR you are.
They didn’t receive their test status like Bangladesh did.
Weaker teams have always been participating even since 1979 WC, with the likes East Africa and Canada participated.
But then again Pakistan didn’t lose 18 of 19 matches on trot, please bring up any era where Pakistan lost 18 of 19 test matches or didn’t win a single series outside subcontinent for 18 years.
Then I will appologize but since I am right as most of the time, that is very unlikely to happen.
