Re: Honeymoon

Final: Rome and Paris :)
just got the tickets yesterday :D

Re: Honeymoon

Me and hubs have already been on holidays around the world like maldives, rome, italy etc... is it such a big deal to go on an all out bank balance killing island honeymoon?

I mean as the wedding costs rocket sky high I cant help but wonder whats wrong with a city break like you rabia for example.... Paris and Rome seems awesome (you will fall in love with Rome by the way!)

I'm interested in finding out more about where you guys are all planning to go for honeymoon?

Re: Honeymoon

So what kinds of things can we do to prepare for our honeymoon! I've already started packing a separate suit case that I'll be taking lol..its pretty empty with a few dresses but what kinds of practical things should we bring for both islandy and city destinations?

Re: Honeymoon

Make sure youve packed for a dress change 3 times a day. Its hot, sand will get on everything and you will want to change also because of the heet.

Look after your feet. When I went maldives I wore flip flops and never took the sun seriously. My feet came very dry and literally tanned into a black shade, eeew I know! So sunblock for the feet definitely.

The salt levels in maldives waters are high so you will burn quick. People were in the water for minutes are burned. The most painful areas are behind the knees, feet back. So be prepared!

Dont take synthetic clothing all natural materials. I took a few light cotton trousers. They have a specific name I cant remember. Anyway it was great for the evening wear.

Take underwater camera casing so you can take photos of the awesome fish when you snorkel.

Also one of the trips on our maldives holiday was a 'local island visit'. Because its still a muslim country we had to cover our knees and shoulders. So just pack a scarf or something to wrap around you rather than having to go to the souvenir shop to buy one that will be very expensive.

No heels. All fancy and simple slippers are great.

Your hair will get so frizzy and horrid because of the salty water so dont end up like me upset because your hair looks horrible lol... take hair serum with you.

Batteries for your camera.

I'll get back to you when I can think of more. I'll ask hubs what I moaned about when we were there!

Re: Honeymoon

any other ideas for those living in North America, since Maldives and Seychelles are too far for Canadians... ?? Im getting married next month in 3 weeks and need advice on honeymoon spots closer to Toronto, not too populated though.

What about some where in the Carribbean or the US? Florida? Cali? Hawaii? Virgin Islands...loads of hot spots. Mexico? Turks and Caicos, Belize, and soo many more.

Sigh I need to pick a destination and stick to it!

BTW congrats! Three weeks! wow...I'm getting nervous thinking about how close mine is getting as well. Hope it turns out all perfect! :)

Re: Honeymoon

Hey Sana, thanks for mentioning so many places :) a great variety to choose from! and Congrats to you too :) I still havent done anything regarding the stage decor... never knew planning a wedding was so stressful

Re: Honeymoon

What is a perefect honeymoon is a week in Maldives and a few days in dubai or singapore. But its more of a personal preference what kind of place you want to go.

Those are some useful tips. Can you tell me which resort you guys satyed in? And the rough cost estimate of ur stay there?

We went to Kuramathi Village and stayed in the Jacuzzi beach villa.

Honestly, I would never go to the 5 star tiny Island resorts in Maldives. Its SO boring.

Kuramathi was fantastic. It was a huge island with 3 resorts all managed by the same people just split into 3. If we wanted to feel like we were on a deserted Island we just went to the beach and never saw ANYBODY.

Having said that there was so much jungle areas to discover and we would go to the party nights on the other resorts in the free golf buggy's lol it was so much fun.

The resort was all inclusive which was so peace of mind. It included buffet breakfast, buffet lunch, buffet tea and snacks, buffet dinner, all day drinks (alcoholic and non alcoholic cocktails etc and water).

All these things can end up costing alot so its good if you can get an inclusive deal.

For 7 nights all inclusive we paid 2,500 pounds.

Just remember Maldives is beautiful. You dont have to stay in a stuck up private Island to enjoy it.

Yea you have a point there.. i might also consider that place. 2,500 is a good price for a week there. I also like the fact that everything was inclusive of the price you paid.. Do they have spa facilities included as well? Is it also possible to visit other islands?
Thankyou for the info :)

Kuramathi has now become expensive because they're trying for their 5 star badge (currently 4 star). I would not be able to tell you what it costs now. We went with Kuoni.

Of course the island has a spa. The treatments are on top but not expensive.I paid 80 dollars for a body wrap and massage.

The trips included were local island trip and sunset cruise. Other trips are available like big fishing and private island trip (they take you on a speedboat to an uninhabited island and pick you up just before sunset lol.. That was awesome! We took lots of change of clothes, drinks and shisha!

There are many more trips.

For me I would hate to go to those tiny 5 foot long private island that cost a bomb. They are so boring. Kuramathi was fantastic. It was beautiful and secluded but also full of energy and fun.

Hope you find the right honeymoon I am also thinking of going back to maldives for the honeymoon!

Re: Honeymoon

^just cause its on a private island doesnt make it stuck up or boring. I had an amazing time and did all sorts of fun things...we met lots of really cool people, did tons of water sports, ate great food, went on cruises, saw marine wildlife...like you said, all of maldives is gorgeous, so you can stay anywhere and it seems like at your resort, they have a lot of the same activities i had at my 5 star resort. if there is a difference, I would say the out of this world hospitality and customer service you get at a 5 star resort would be unique, but its nice to know there are less expensive options in the Maldives :)

I want to go to northern Pakistan with my hubby after I get married:blush:

:cb:
saudia aint tht bad:@:

Re: Honeymoon

i kinda want to go to maldives after all you guys wrote...
but for ages i've been wanting to take a cross-country trip in pakistan photographing and just getting to know the feel of each province/major city.
also paris and rome and greece are right up on the chart. i think i'll make a pact with the hubby that after we're married we'll have to take a week off and go somewhere every year :p

I'm giving advice based on what so many people have told me and because I have been.

FACT: an island the size of a large boat with only one restaurant and one bar is DAMN boring after a few days.

Plus if you can't swim your pretty much screwed as there is barely no island anyway the only sports are water ones.

All I am saying is that there are resorts where you can feel secluded from the world but also have more ground to discover.

Believe me I have been on numerous holidays and kuramathi was no less than any 5 star in maldives. It was just bigger with more to do.
