i went to gilgit by road in june 2006 and had no problems at all. it was a long and cumbersome journey. i went by bus at night and i felt suffocated because ic ould not see the journey. i could hear the rive rindus below and make out the dark walls that were mounatins and feel the suden breaking.....on the way back i came during the day, it felt so much better!
i also interested to visit hunza valley or skardu with my family, during summer vacations. But i did not get any satisfactory information.pIA ppl says that booking of gilgit flight is manual.so you can stuck in islamabad or gilgit.no confirm flights and no confirm seat.skardu is better option as boeing flys there and less chance of flight cancellation but all flights of these areas are up to weather.i read in a book of mustansar hussain tarar that their flight to skardu came back just before landing as pilot could not see the airport due to thick clouds.i donot want to frighten you ppl but i got confused.we have to travel with two kids and a toddler.due to living in lahore it is very tough to wait for a flight in islamabad.i talked to ptdc ppl and they have suggested kaghan, naran and that famous lake.no flights hassels.just by car travelling. But i am still confused as i want to see hunza valley. Can anyone share experiences about kaghan and naran side. How is the road conditions, specially after earth quake of 2005?
