Honeymoon Dilemma :S

Hello people!
I am completely new to this forum and I am a Nov 2012 bride. All our preps are going well for the wedding functions Alhamdulilah but the thing which is really bothering me and hubby is our ‘honeymoon’ :S It’s once in a lifetime oppurtunity so it really matters alot to us.
We dont have much time for honeymoon though just a week or so. Hubby and I really want to make it memorable for us. We are planning to book a resort type thing for our honeymoon where we can spend some quality time together relaxing and doing nothing! :stuck_out_tongue: We found some interesting resorts in maldives and are planning our honeymoon in maldives. We are quite excited but I am not sure whether we made a right choice or not. We are still searching for some other places. Please guys I really want you to help me out :frowning: has anyone ever been to maldives? How was the experience? I am really looking forward for you guys to help keeping two things in mind:

  1. Reasonable budget
  2. Halal food

I’ll be grateful

Guys come on! Please reply!

Re: Honeymoon Dilemma :S

We went to Maldives for our honeymoon Just returned two weeks ago... Maldives is expensive but it's so worthit We had wonderful time there. We stayed at Woldrof Astoria thats little pricy but there are other resorts on different islands which might b in your budget... Regardless of which resort you choose food is super expensive there :( oh and it's a Muslim country so food is halal there
It's paradise you won't regret our decision ... Good luck :)

Honeymoon Dilemma :S

Maldives looks amazinggggg! That's where I would go. We aren't able to book somewhere due to several reasons out of our control. But that's where we would go. Halal food, beautiful place and weather. Lazy beach holiday where you just spend time with each other. But can do water sports and other activities. There are secluded beaches where you can get into your bikini if that's your thing. And it's just So Beautiful! Do It!!!!!

Thank you guys for your feedback! :)

Re: Honeymoon Dilemma :S

Glad to hear that you enjoyed! :) I am also super excited. Hope everything goes well. There's this constance halaveli resort in maldives and hubby and I are going crazy about it :S
could you please tell me how much did your trip cost you?

Re: Honeymoon Dilemma :S

I visited Maldives in November last year, had a really good time but as others have said it is quite expensive. We went on all-inclusive so all our meals were covered, the only extras we had to pay for were things like spa treatments and trips.
The island/resort we stayed at was Meeru - I'd say it's mid-priced compared to the other islands.

Re: Honeymoon Dilemma :S

Hi, im getting married in a few weeks and we hav booked meeru. Wer really lookin forward to it. What type of room did u stay in?

Re: Honeymoon Dilemma :S

Faryal. I have no idea how much trip cost us... I asked my hubby about the cost and he said dont worry about it just enjoy. So that's what I did :). But I heard someone there at the resot that the ocean front villa ( where we stayed) was about $700-1000 /night
I heard that if you don't drink than all inclusive package is not worthit

Yeah I heard that as well
And and I was wondering which airline is better and reaaonable to fly to male via dubai ??? :S

Re: Honeymoon Dilemma :S

And also please tell me if anyone knows about the sheraton resort in maldives and also how many days are enough for stayinxg there ?

Re: Honeymoon Dilemma :S

We flew United from US to Dubai and Oman air from there to Male and it was pretty good... Emirates have direct flights
I liked Oman air better than United
Oman air stops over in Muscat for couple of hours

We were there for 6 days and I think 6-7 days is enough

Re: Honeymoon Dilemma :S

How about Indonesia, Malaysia or Singapore?? Indonesia has many islands and beach resorts you can go to like Bali. Malaysia's smaller islands are popular too, so is the city Kuala Lumpur. Oh and Thailand as well as there is Phuket, Bangkok. Singapore is fantastic as well as it has a good city life but no resorts and all I guess. Shopping is gd in Singapore and nightlife as well. All these places except Thailand have halal food available in abundance. Gd luck!

Re: Honeymoon Dilemma :S

Have you thought about Dubia? While Maldives is a beautiful place and the food is halal, there doesn't seem a lot to do apart from water sports and beach lounging?

Honeymoon Dilemma :S

Im a nov2012 bride and wev booked 10nights in maldives @ vilamendhoo water villa, 3 nights abu dhabi and 3 nights dubai (making the most of our stopover in abu dhabi as wer flying with Eithihaad) im excited.! Inshallah

Whats your budget? You have a week only right? You could do the pacific islands or maybe fly to europe Italy is so romantic.! I would avoid turkey, or egypt, nice to visit but not as a honeymoon i think.! The dominican republic is a good place but not halal so all veg and fish.!

South africa.?? Im guna push for maldives purely because i have a passion for the place and based my final year uni project on the island .!
Malaysia is a good option.! You could do a beach and city break they have some great packages.!

Re: Honeymoon Dilemma :S

Don't go to Bali, it's rowdy and not great for a honeymoon.. great if you want to go drinking. Jakarta is much nicer, it's a muslim country, halal food is easily available, and shopping is great too. Hotels have put their prices down to attract more tourists

Re: Honeymoon Dilemma :S

that sure is a lovely place, im also a nov 2012 bride, n we still thinking where to go, i have heard that prices are high in nov then summer time its cheaper... i dont know if that is true or not...
yet looking at maldives and couple of other places like borabora too... lets see where we decide to go...

hope all the preps are coming along well... did u finalize your dress yet? because im super confused!!

Re: Honeymoon Dilemma :S

Yes prices are surely gonna be high then :S so better decide as soon as possible.
I have two three dresses in my mind but haven't finalized yet. I'd be going for replicas most probably. Other than that venues are finalized and I might book mariam khawaja for the big day as my makeup artist :)

Re: Honeymoon Dilemma :S

Yes hun, we only have one week so we are planning to make a 3 nights stay at maldives and rest at dubai. lets see. Malaysia is a good option too but hubby thinks that everybody goes there and It won't add the 'wow effect' telling people about our honeymoon :p lol.. Please suggest me some good resorts in maldives and also if you know about constance halaveli and sheraton resort. They are quite expensive but are they really worth it ?

Honeymoon Dilemma :S

Then i would deffo do maldives and dubai, the most reccomended i came accross were vilamendhoo, sheraton, meeru island, kuruveda, have you checked tripadvisor.?? Its really great and you can see pictures that people who have visited have put up and not just the glossy ones we see in mags and on the net.!

Also the bride who mentioned bora bora.. Wow.! I enquired about it, its very very far to travel from the UK and most travel agents were quoting a minimum of 7-10k for a 7 night stay.! I saw it on the kardashians lol
