Re: honeymoon destinations
^ hehe. well u can always have a 5 year long honeymoon.
Re: honeymoon destinations
Has anyone ever considered not going/going somewhere not so expensive and donating the money saved/not spent to some charity org. like Edhi Foundation etc so the less fortunate can maybe not go hungry for atleast another day. One could derive greater pleasure and a bigger sense of satisfaction and achievement by this as opposed to blowing the dough on oneself, and inshallah Allah will shower His blessings on the newly wed couple.
Sorry didnt mean to come down as a molvi or something.
Re: honeymoon destinations
A honeymoon isn;t exactly the equivalent of extravagance.
Re: honeymoon destinations
Extravagance is a matter of perspective. From where you stand its probably not. For someone much less fortunate though, it definitely is.
Re: honeymoon destinations
^ sure i did thought of that. and its not like i dont help ppl out, i give to charities, i pay zakats, i even try to help less fortunate than me back home ( relatives, maids etc). if i am planning some thing expensive or big, doesnt mean i dont help needy. :-)
Re: honeymoon destinations
French Polynesia is the most beautiful place to go, especially Maupiti island:

and Bora-Bora

I saw many newlyweds on honeymoon there, last summer when I took these pictures…![]()
but it’s really expensive, though tere are some special packages for honeymoon…
another problem if you travel from Europe, that’s far, 20000km, ie 20-22hour by plane!:rotato: But it’s worth it, I recommend it to you! if you need more details don’t hesitate to contact me! ![]()
Re: honeymoon destinations
Prelude I believe if one working day in day out to earn a living one deserves to pamper themself once in a while if not more often. If extravagance is a matter of perspective there will always be someone or the other who finds you extravagant. So people instead of going for a honeymoon can donate the money to charity instead, people with two kidneys can donate the other one cos they can do quite well with one too, people with long hair can donate their hair for wigs so on and so forth. If God has blessed us with wealth in any form, it is indeed important that we share some of it with others, but that doesn't necessarily mean that we don't enjoy it ourselves too.
Re: honeymoon destinations
Very true FF ji. I feel the same way. One should always enjoy oneself and be in a very healthy state of mind. If one is in a healthy state of mind, one is able to help others better.
The purpose of honeymoon is basically having a quiet time away from everything and day to day life.

You sound the best when agreeing :p

Re: honeymoon destinations
I wouldn't call it honeymoon suroor..
When i got married i wanted to go and travel due to the fact that i always wanted to travel and explore around..and since i was broke..i decided to explore canada as i had summer holidays at that time..and also, i wanted my husband to see a bit of canada before he started working and get busy with daily life. Alhumdullilah, i did managed well on a tight budget and the trip was so much fun. We took greyhound bus from here to vancouver and one person's return 14 day fare was $214..we saw many scenic places on the way to vancouver. The bus trip was for 3 days. After exploring vancouver on our own for 3/4 days we took a guided tour of BC and Alberta from Moose Network. It was for almost a week and costed us $300 per person i think. Besides that, we had to pay for our food and accomodation everyday. We stayed mostly in hostels and had dome accomodation to private accomodation depending on the availibility. The whole 2 week trip costed up between $1500-$1700. It would have been much cheaper if we didn't ate at greek/indian/vietnamese restaurant from time to time and would have bought food from grocery store, tim hortons, local places. Also, the major $ was spent in buying bottled water. If we would have bought the big bottles from grocery store and transferred them to small bottles while travelling..we could have saved money on buying small bottles from restaurants/convenience stores. I remember at one time i paid $5 for a 500 ml of water bottle because it was a tourist place (can't remember which place though).
Overall, i had so much fun :)
btw, if you are ever looking for budget options when it comes to travelling..i would love to help you in any regard..be it finding a cheap ticket or finding a cheaper accomodation.
