The Quran contains stories of the Prophets (Peace be upon them all). They were all sent to different nations with the same message, to worship the One true God and to avoid idolatry and other (major) sins. These stories of previous nations and their punishments for rejecting the Truth, after having received warnings, are mentioned in the Quran so that we muslims may learn from their mistakes and not commit any of these SINS. Otherwise, we too will face the same consequences. You may see it as discrimination for attacking a specific group of people, we see it as clear rules and warnings for the things we musn’t do or accept. Examples are homosexuality, but also fornication or adultery among other things.
So, no, as a muslimah and a human being in the 21th century born and raised in the West, I’m not offended as I believe in the Quran and to suggest that we go against whatever is written in the Quran because it’s “discrimination” would mean to go against the word of God. It’s not a normal book where you can pick and choose what to follow and what to ignore. You may not agree or understand and that’s fine.
The Quran mentions different groups of people, you have the example of Prophet Lut and the people who engaged in homosexual activities. The Quran also mentions the Children of Israel, and calls them cursed for rejecting the truth and Islam, would you argue the Quran is discriminatory against the Jews? When the same Quran for example calls them the people of the Book and allows muslim men to marry a Jewish woman. Other groups of people mentioned are idol worshippers, hypocrites and wrongdoers. Should they also stand up against discrimination, since they can’t help who they are? 
Also, I have issues with people’s definitions of a “good” and a “bad” muslim. Especially when one uses western/non-islamic criteria to determine the level of goodness. I also find it annoying when I see muslims on SM proclaim they can be both muslim and gay and that the Quran doesn’t forbid their lifestyle blabla. Whether they’re muslim or not it’s not for me to decide, but their need to justify or support their lifestyle from an Islamic point of view is just plain silly.
SindSagar didn’t insinuate that the Quran contains hateful passages, and he mentioned Quranic verses while responding to SID’s post. There’s a difference. The problem isn’t whether the Quran should or should not have been included in this discussion, whether by you or a muslim member, it’s how to respectfully disagree with a Book you don’t believe in without offending those who do believe in it, unnecassarily. Or, the need to tell those who believe in the Quran to reject those parts you aren’t comfortable with in order to be considered a “good” muslim. That would probably be a “secular muslim”. But I personally don’t agree with that term.

@Coughkhaansi I think it is silly, I did choose my words carefully. You shouldn’t select a few sentences in the Quran and try to find loopholes or come up with your own interpretations to convince others that same-sex relationships are permissible. That’s confirmation bias. When it comes to a matter of religion, one should seek religious advice. Trying to find a balance between what the religion clearly forbids or allows and a western upbringing is tricky, but one should either refrain from that particular sin altogether or just own it while acknowledging it goes against what Islam has said. But don’t try to reconcile the two things. That’s just making a joke out of religion. There’s our own individual perpective and then there’s Islam’s perspective.

I don’t see anything wrong with mentioning the wrongdoers alongside homosexuals. What’s a wrongdoer? You and me alongside every other person on this planet. We were created to worship God but being human means to sin but also repent.
