to let loose upon them stone-hard blows of chastisement, (asad)

There are a lot of hateful passages in the old Bible and based on your post, the Quran. That is why people need to use their common sense to weed out the bad and extract the good from any article they read, whether that article is the Bible or Quran or just a newspaper article.

This is exactly why religion at times is the root of evil.

What substance? Why ask for substance as if it would exist in such situations.

Quite bold to post something like this on GS. Your definition of common sense won’t be the same as mine, clearly, however I too like to believe I’m blessed with the gift of common sense.
As muslims we believe the Quran is the Truth, the word of God and not the commentaries or opinions of mortal humans. So for you to claim that the Quran contains hateful passages or the comparison with the Bible or a newspaper, mehh I don’t know how to explain I’m disapppointed and offended.

I don’t see any hateful thing mentioned in the Quran, you don’t have to agree but no need to disrespect our holy book.
Religion ain’t the root of evil, it’s human nature with its ego and shortcomings.

Your thread is somewhat funny because it smells like inciting an old issue like a bot.

Very old issue. I think you want some fun here. hahaha

Sid Dear!
Forget about which site it is or was from.

Maybe it’s not an authentic site.. Fine.

Did you ever read or understood Quran ?

You mentioned in some other posts you follow Muslim Scholar(s). Did you ever get an idea from those scholars before questioning the validity of homosexuality or the story of Lot?

Please do not take an offense. Your post intrigued me to ask you bro.

I do not always agree with you but I see many of your posts at excellent level.

One of those is this one. Bravo!

In fact your post prompted to me to write here. :flowers:

Please ignore our senile and senior yet senselessly Libertard poster, acting like a bad virus on this forum for many years.

A lot of people have become immune to this virus. Thank God.

Here is what I wrote - “based on your post, the Quran.”

I read what Sindsagar wrote, and I do find the passages offensive. So should you. As Muslims you may find the Quran is the Truth. But if any book outs down someone based in their orientation, it is fair game to be criticized. Quite frankly, it is a reflection on the religion if it attacks a particular community. And it is a reflection on its followers if they don’t speak up against discrimination against any community. Especially when they are the first to cry Islamaphobia - and rightfully so - when they are discriminated against!

Can’t have it both ways

Added: The person who inserted the Quran in this thread on homophobia was Sindsagar. It is really strange that no one else thought it fit to criticize him for bringing in the Quran. Had I inserted the Quran myself, it would be fair to criticize me. I didn’t. But when someone uses a religious book to justify discrimination and hate against a set of people, then the text within the book is fair game to be criticized. Will the good Muslims stand up against discrimination? That is the question one has to ask. And answer.

When someone agrees with and promotes homophobia, that could be indicative of right wing bigotry. Because the latter engage in the same practice.

Even if we put religion aside, homosexuality still has many things going against it as I’ve mentioned before

Those who never miss a chance to knock down those different from themselves show behavior symptomatic of right wing bigotry. It is unfortunate they hides behind the cloak of Religious scholar(s) to further their agenda of putting down people different from themselves.

There is nothing funny about this issue. Ha ha ha. Wink, wink wink.

There always is supposed to be a substance. I want to know OP’s personal opinion. Its very important to know to initiate a healthy discussion

:smack:

Mera bhai, instead of questioning my knowledge or judging me, wish you could have understood my point which you clearly missed by miles.

Let me break it down for your as well as @SindSagar understanding:

The link showed about the archaeological digging. Very interesting. However the commentary was done by a religious pastor or evangelist or someone of that cadre. The question is whatever archaelogists found after digging, who related it to Hazrat Loot and others. Like what source established this proof that this is precisely linked to the prophet and his nation. And thats a very legit question for those who seek an answer. Ofcourse we can blindly go by the pastor’s words but that exactly makes it one-sided.

I cant believe I have to explain this but in my post I did NOT make any comment about homosexuality itself at all. It was just a question of what archaeological proof made Israeli govt (a country created and run on the name of religion) put a a sign there mentioning this area is pertaining to :the remains of prophet nation. :smack2:

We all know how Isreali govt puts its flags and enforce rules on the occupied land

And as far as “Did I ever read or understood Quran” lol.. You know what I’m the last person to prove anyone my loyalties for religion, country etc so I’m not going to answer that. You are so free to judge me whichever the way I can. As I have already sensed there’ll be a thread coming for me with a bunch of labels at same point

Wait, how exactly is religion the root of evil? First of all, if the evil exists and you believe in it, you should believe in religion too, right? There has to be both good and bad.

Lets talk about it.

Religion apart from other things, point out things for clear understanding and enforces discipline. It gives us boundaries we have to respect. Not crossing those boundaries dont make you evil. In fact, it clearly makes you more civilized socially.

For example, religion tells us clearly what relations can have a sexual relationship via marriage ofcourse and which are not. And those which are not end up with having the utmost respect socially and in relationships. For example, father daughter, mother son and so on. Now anyone violates this is committing incest and hence initiating the root of other problems.

Within the boundaries you can slaughter, enslave rape and loot. There are plenty of secular societies who have boundaries where humans are respected, women and gays aren't stoned. Also in order to be a citizen of the planet we have to accept that internationally agreed human rights trump religious freedoms, like Hindus cant slaughter Muslims even if their religion justifies or ISIS fighters rape war captives or old Saudi men purchasing 12 year old Syrian girls.Even if they claim their religion sanctions it.
