this is by no mean a rude thread.. i just wanted to have a mature discussion about something which is openly prevelant around us..

ok.. its considered normal and acceptable to be of gay orientation.. and apparently its uncool to hate on the homos of this world

what are ur views on this.. id especially like to here from people in westerrn countries where its open..

Its confusing shortdog but then again, its not. Islam clearly condemns homosexuality and if you follow the basics of our religion then you do too. I know this is not a religious discussion but Im Muslim and my thought process is influenced by my religion. Btw, when I say "you", Im generalizing.

Living in the west, you come across homosexuals a lot. Its part of everyday life and people are becoming numb to it. Isnt there a new breed to now? Metrosexuals?

Personally, I have met a lot of homosexuals and found them to be nice people. BUT homosexuality is wrong in Islam and one cannot ignore that. While Im not one to go out and start punishing people for their sexual preferences, Im not one to openly encourage it either.

I wouldnt expose my children to it, lets put it that way.

p squared im not really a religious person, so my opinions aren't influenced by religious rhetoric.

As a man i am unable to comprehend why a man would want to indulge in such acts of sodomy.

If people have anti-homosexual views should we pretend we dont at work/uni/college just to fit in? does anyone do it?

You have to pretend to not notice it...which is what I do unless the person is openly talking about it. At that point, I say somehting like "Hmm, funny" and thats it. When you're at work its not about trying to fit in actually, its about keeping your job and not getting fired for sexual harassment or discrimination. Things like that can follow you to future jobs too. If you openly dont like homosexuals at work, word gets around and before you know it you're being called into the boss's office for a talk.

As a Muslim, I don't agree with homosexuality as it is prohibited in Islam. However, I've encountered people who are homosexual and are very nice. I treat everyone with respect regardless of religion, culture, race, sexual orientation, etc.

At personal level they should not be harmed or any thing.
But Govt/tv should not promote it as they do in west.
Its a variation and thats how it should be dealt with.

the funny part is when they have their little fight with each other like girls doo... hahaha, this place i used to work, my manager was gay and two new kids joined, both brothers, GAY!... you could see this evil look one one guy's face for the manager, like jealousy... with their purse-like bag hanging on the side.. LOL

My boss was gay at my last job and in the beginning, it was funny because sometimes I would wear dresses to work and he would say cute things like:

"that dress has my name written aaaaall over it sista!"

or "you almost turned me straight with that one"

At first, it was funny and I would laught it off but THEN the gay jokes started and they were absolutely EWWWWWW...lol

I don't accept it as I am Muslim.

The other day I was watching two eldely men kissing on the train. It just didn't look right! They continued for 20 mins and were sitting infront of me! (Trains had seats on the sides of carriage.) The kissing was getting too deep and I just didn't know where to look! It was so disturbing.

Having said that I live around so many gays in my area (due to lifestyle in west) and I remain polite and respect them.

I was out with some friends at lunch-time and one gori friend asked another friend (who's brother is gay) that "how would you feel if your son turned out gay?" The other gori was so trilled at being asked such a question and said,"I would love that! That would be so different. My son spends a lot of time with his gay Uncle and that news would make me so happy. Mum and Dad gave a massive annoucement party for my brother when he came out..."

Thank gwad they didn't ask me that question - I would have swallowed my fork!
