Re: home remedy for nausea?

awww nausea is the worst - I had it all through the first and part of second trimester. It’s horrible. I asked for medical help but they gave me nothing! :frowning: you’re lucky you got given something lol.

It sounds silly, but fresh air helps! Stick your head out the window if you can’t manage to walk outside (I couldn’t!) Take deep long breaths and focus on your breathing (try mindfulness?)

Also, try eating throughout the day to PREVENT nausea - because it often happens when you’re hungry. But by the time you get the nausea you don’t feel like eating anything! When you wake up first thing in the morning, have a snack even before getting out of bed (I would keep a stash of fruit, biscuits and small chocolates right next to the bed). Eat small meals throughout the day so your stomach is never empty - and eat ON TIME (don’t leave lunch for too late). I heard ginger is also good - I bought ginger biscuits and they sometimes, not always, helped.

Other than that, I don’t really know any other treatments - I hope to learn from others’ responses too!

Seven times sura e fatehaa after ishaa prayers and …

Oops sorry, just realized that I am barking up the wrong tree :stuck_out_tongue:

Re: home remedy for nausea?

Yes i know doctors dont usually give anything for nausea. i asked my ob/gyn over the phone but he doesn’t think i need anything. So I got Rx from my husband whos a physician, but not ob/gyn. but i would rather use home remedy first. keeping rx in hand just incase things get really bad.
the problem is i cant eat throughout the day because im having serious aversion because of this nausea. i hear saltine crackers help. i have heard about ginger as well. i think maybe ginger tea may help. but i dont know if the smell of ginger will make it worse or better.

Re: home remedy for nausea?

i do pray, but differently :snooty:

Re: home remedy for nausea?

Re: home remedy for nausea?

TLK, why don’t you suggest her some kerries [aamiya; baby mangoes] or licking on lemon/lime cut into halves and salt N black pepper sprinkled or raw Imli [tamarind]? :stuck_out_tongue:

Re: home remedy for nausea?

kerries are going to be hard to find. but lemon halves sound good.

Re: home remedy for nausea?

you may find it in Indian stores …

do you know how to make shikan-jabeen? it’s a sugar/lemon juice paste. i’ve seen women in India licking on it. it can also be made into a siplacious drink with ice cubes.

Re: home remedy for nausea?

dont waste too much time trying on home remedies if you are vomiting all the time which may cause dehydration.

I tried everything but nothing worked so I took zofran during my first pregnancy, at times I had to be admitted in the hospital while they pumped me with zofran through IV due to severe dehydration but second time around, I took Diclegis until the day I gave birth.. I would say it’s much better than zofran.. because it’s basically votamin B6 and antihistamine making it Category A medicine (Zofran is category B and can cause constipation)

I believe it’s called Diclectin in Canada.

good luck.. it’s all worth it

I heard that sucking on ice chips is better remedy.

Re: home remedy for nausea?

Few drops of fresh lemon juice is good for nausea and so is licking lemon. I don’t know if lemon is ok during pregnancy or not, but lemon helps in curing general nausea.

  • peppermint tea

Re: home remedy for nausea?

Ginger ale helped me a lot…not the Canada Dry and Seagram’s stuff lol it was an organic ginger ale that had like pieces of ginger at the bottom it was very very strong but it really helped me.

And I agree with nnabid - fresh air really does help.

Dried apricots

Re: home remedy for nausea?

Honestly just take e zofran for yours and your baby’s sake. It seriously saved my life during the first 5months of my pregnancy. Most home remedies either did not work or didn’t last long. At least with the zofran it will take that edge off and you might be able to eat small amounts of something through the day. My baby is a healthy 3 month old mashallah and I was on a copious zofran pump up till the middle of my 5th month. You will be fine.
