get some yellow flowers ki larriyan and decorate the room where the function will be arranged.
get a thaal and decorate it and put some fancy plates for mehndi , ubtan and sweets.
if you have a theme for dresses get these made first like all the girls will be wearing yellow and boys will be green etc.
I had my mayoun at home and we decorated using everything from the dollar store or things we already had at home. You can check out pictures here.
**Decor:
**- Use dupatta’s to decorate around the area the bride will sit: This is like a backdrop (picture 2) - you can do any style. Hard to see but in the last picture, you can see fabric draping from the ceiling - this was at our house
Use colourful candles (picture 1… on the right side: $1 for 2 and picture 17)
We used flower stems from the dollar store around our home and behind my chair (picture 2)
Drape fabric on the seat that the bride will sit on (picture 2)… throw colourful cushions around there
Put the mehendi/uptan in cutesy containers that you can make urself or get from the dollar store (picture 17: the flower candles are from Dollarama and the container in the middle was a spice container that my mom had… I used an orange ribbon to cover the bottom and then a gold one to highlight it)
**Rasms:
**Don’t complicate it Ours was really simple/standard:
My MIL put flower jewellery on me… my mom put a flower haar/necklace on my husband
People did the nazar thing with money
Put mehendi on a paan leaf that was in our hand
They fed us something sweet (we opted for fruits instead of traditional mithai)
If you are in London I would recommend using DIY wedding events, it's a fb page. We did my sisters mehndi and we bought our trays from them. They were much cheaper than southall etc and the girl even let us rent out some of her furniture for the mehndi!
nthng just put some where all mehndi plates and its looks good in pics when photograher take pics....during the event rasam is going ..and after rasam if u plan to dance then do that part and u can also give chorriyan or any girl lilltle things to the guests meantime
btw what do i do with the mehndi plates????? after i made them as in what do you do during the event
What cancerian said - once you bring it in you can just put it somewhere where the photographer can take pictures and stuff. Some of your mehendi plates can have the mithai and stuff... so you'll use those in rasms. We also did what cancerian said and gave out chooriyan to all the females at the mehendi... so 2 trays were full of those. But yeah, they're mainly just there for pictures and to make everything look pretty :P
