For thorough cleansing of pores, apply a mask which contains lemon will help as it has astringent properties. And you can also try steaming as that opens the pores so that any clogged up dirt is removed, thus preventing new spots from occuring.
Some ppl suggest that you apply toothpaste directly on any major spot/blackhead as it dries it up - but whatever you do make sure you have a good routine of cleansing your skin.
The steps are to first cleanse your skin, then use toner to seal the skin, and last of all apply some moisturiser. However, some ppl have naturally oily or combination skin and dont really need moisturiser, so if your skin is of that type just cleanse and tone at morning and night and limit your moisturiser to morning use only.
Anyway, d best remedy for blackheads is to have them removed through simple steps as follows:
1) Wash your face
2) Steam ur face (over a hot bowl of water and using towel to keep steam in or by using professional facial steamer)
3) Use a blackhead remover to remove blackheads (i love the Body Shop's blackhead remover, its great)
4) Then apply a mask (i.e. a mud mask) to remove all dirt/impurities from skin and wash off
Another thing is to have regular facials, at least once every 8-10 weeks. This will remove dirt and impurities from pores. If you dont get round to having facials, then other option is to use a Facial Scrub (Boot's own brand is great for this) at least once a week.
For your oily hair, i would suggest that you either try Body Shop's haircare range or consult your GP - also try to go withour washing your hair for two days instead of the one day and dont fidget/touch your hair as that makes hair greasier. Another thing, use very less shampoo and more conditioner on your hair - a common misconception is to over-do it with the shampoo thinking that you need to put more on for oily hair but that makes hair even more greasier.
Hope that helps.
:)
Thanks a million for the advices one more question - would you prefer an electrical blackhead remover or the manual one ?? i think i prefer the electrical one since you have to squeeze the other one which hurts a bit as well and the electric is easy and no need for steam as well (i guess) but i want your take on it.
Does castor oil applied to eye lashes make them grow longer or thicker?
*]I get my hair streaked religiously and currently they have ash, hazel and gold streaks with a darker base...Im moving to the UK (will be most probably in Hayes) for 2 years and i wanted to know where can i get my streaks done from, .... I am very particular about maintaining them and need to know what is affordable and good quality out there????
Thankxs :Pretty:
I have another question. My mom has chaiya (dark spots and freckles) on her face. What is the best way to lighter her dark spots or to even get rid of it? She has tried everything including stillman's and wasn't very successful in lightening her dark spots.
Pyaar183> You're welcome....and your skin care routine is just fine in that order - i'd wash the face with warm water first and then cold water to close d pores and then apply toner and then light moisturiser.
With regards to your mum's dark areas/freckles, if these are natural then the only permanent way to remove them would be through surgery. but i wouldnt recommend such drastic measures. I would suggest that she uses the Fade Away or Fade Out Cream available in all UK pharmacies. Tell her to stay away from Stillmans as it doesnt do any good for the condition of the skin and its only a temporary lightening effect. She could also try changing her diet, drinking plenty of water and also try ubtan at home.

Nooree> Hi again!
1) Never heard of castor oil doing any wonders for lashes - but i kno vaseline helps - just a dab of it helps condition lashes which help them appear more fuller and thicker.
2) I'm not too sure about hairdressers in the Hayes area as i'm from Midlands - but each salon varies in price/service. I'd definitely advise that you have a strand test done before you book yourself in for the full do. Also, you will find that when you go to certain hairdressers (especially goreh) they always come out with things like 'you need to bleach your whole head first' , or ' this colour wont come out on your hair as you have asian hair' - also they tend to charge more for streaking Asian hair, but obviously they dont tell you that.
I, myself, am particular about getting my hair coloured, so i have tried out few salons and now stick to the one as they understand my needs. I pay approx £70 for getting my hair streaked with a cut and blow-dry, which is quite reasonable in price as i have medium-long lenght hair.
hey mysterious woman were in the midlands u from??

Zayma> Hi again!
I'm from Solihull - why, where u from?
Good to hear vaseline is working, but dont over-do it as its pretty greasy, and u dont want to end up wid spots...
I'm pretty sure you would be able to get those creams in America - or try online services. Ubtan can be made in various ways - basic ubtan is besan, touch of haldi and bit of olive oil. Theres so many different versions, some without oil, some wid water, etc.
I use a glycolic acid face wash and that helps with my blackheads as well. If it doesnt remove them, it does bring them to the surface so they can be easily removed by a slight squeeze.
Welcome to your personal advisor....on d Lifestyles forum..
You've got d same problem dat most asian guys/gals have nowadays - its made worse by lack of sleep and bad diet.
First things first improve ur diet, take appropriate vitamins if required, get plenty of sleep and drink loads of water.
Then try applying some eye cream (Avon do a great one, but cant remember its name) twice a day in gentle patting motion.
Also, try cooled cucumber slices and also give used teabags a try - trick is to place them on eyes and relax for 5-10mins at least three times a week - i know this helps releive the tired, puffy look.
Another thing that really helps dark circles is the 'eye massage' technique - you basically tap the 'under eye' are with your index fingers gently, this circulates the blood flow to the eye areas whichin turn helps the area look brighter and fresher. Do this for a few minutes at least twice a day.
Also a good cleansing/toning routine helps, as well as treating urself to a monthly facial at least.
Hope that helps...
Btw, you still dont know what my exact job role is....and this is more of a hobby, like i sed related to the Arts sector...
I thought i'd share some health and beauty tips with you all...
Hope you find them useful - i'll add more whenever i get round to it...
Whiten Your Teeth The Natural Way
You need:
1 ripe strawberry
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
Directions:
Crush the strawberry to a pulp, then mix with the baking powder until blended. Use a soft toothbrush to spread the mixture onto your teeth. Leave on for 5 minutes, then brush thoroughly with toothpaste to remove the berry–baking powder mix. Rinse. (A little floss will help get rid of any strawberry seeds.) you can apply once a week.
Go:
Combine all ingredients in a bowl, and stir well. In the bathtub or shower, apply the scrub in a circular motion to the areas below the neck where breakouts are most common (back, chest, and neck). Rinse.
How it works:
Apples are high in malic acid and amylase enzymes, which slough away dead skin and dirt that can clog pores and cause break-outs. Sugar polishes away rough spots. And olive oil helps leave skin feeling soft and smooth.
2) Strawberry T-Zone Zapper
Grab:
1/2 cup strawberries (about 6 medium berries, stems removed)
1 teaspoon honey
1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
Go:
Using a fork, mash the strawberries into a pulp. Mix strawberries, honey, and lemon juice in a small bowl. Apply to face and leave on 8–10 minutes. Wash off with a mild cleanser and warm water. Tip: Use this mask in the evening, because the lemon’s citric acid can make your skin more sensitive to UV rays.
How it works:
The strawberries and lemon juice, both natural astringents, tighten and cleanse pores. And the honey moisturizes.
