People ,which one is better.Im talkin’ about movies n music. You prefer watchin’ holly flicks or bolly filcks?
Re: Hollywood vs Bollywood
i prefer Bolly all the way......holly is good at scary movies and some others r very good too....but overall i like bolly and i prefer watching bolly in cinema too rather than holly.....
Re: Hollywood vs Bollywood
Technically, Hollywood is far superior. Bollywood has gotten better over the years.
However, Bollywood stories are closer to heart :)
For music, its Bollywood all the way !!
Re: Hollywood vs Bollywood
don't watch many bollywood movies.
i'd go for hollywood.
Re: Hollywood vs Bollywood
Hollywood me thinks.
Hollywood all the way
Re: Hollywood vs Bollywood
both are forms of entertainment, both have their flaws and extremities and goods. we should just realize they only hold entertainment value. i pick n choose from both.
Re: Hollywood vs Bollywood
hollywood.
bollywood are just hollywood rip offs so no point wasting time watchign same thing over and over....................
Re: Hollywood vs Bollywood
From Hollywood's special effects to its super-heros shelf....Hollywood is just way wayyyy better than Bollywood and have some originality! Although, sometimes they do come up with a nice movie......still i'd pick Hollywood over Bollywood!
Hollywood all the way man, it is no contest. Hollywood has realistic and believable movies (not counting scifi and superhero flicks) and not everything is about glamor in hollywood. Movies such as Kingdom of Heaven, Gladiator, Citizen Kane I Am Sam and Rain Man are just some of the masterpieces churned out by Hollywood. All of these mentioned movies are very good and cannot be compared with any movie from bollywood; this shows that bollywood doesn't have a wide variety of movies in terms of subject and content. All of them look similar besides a select few. In terms of Music Hollywood has really good background scores and bollywood music is more relate able because of our culture.
Re: Hollywood vs Bollywood
Defenitely Hollywood..! But for the music Bollywood.. Bollywood movie has this certain thing that I also like.. But I prefer the original Hollywood..
Re: Hollywood vs Bollywood
Both have their merits, but Bolly for me.
and the old rag abt 'Bollywood is Hollywood ripped off' is getting old.
same goes for the no variety talk.
Well then Bollywood should certainly stop stealing ideas otherwise no matter how old you think "the talk" is getting people will keep pointing it out!!!
Wow,majority is preferring holly to bolly.
Re: Hollywood vs Bollywood
Well, point out atleast 10 movies from the last year which were Hollywood rip offs first, then we talk.

Last year surprisingly they didnt hve tht many rip offs's although i can tell you Ghajini copied the basic idea of the movie memento which is a thousand times better than Ghajini could ever be. The movie Heroes has a whole scene ripped off of the popular sitcom Friends. Also I can give you a list of movies that came out only in the last five years and were copies of Better made Hollywood Movies.
Lets Start with Rang De Basanti (All My Sons)
Zinda (Oldboy)
Mr Ya Miss (Hot Chick)
Sarkar (The Godfather)
Ek Ajnabee (Man On Fire)
tathastu (John Q)
The Killer (Collateral)

You implied Bollywood thrives on Hollywood ripoffs, so i asked you to name atleast 10 copies from last year, considering so many films are produced per year, and you give me excuses like "last year surprisingly they didnt copy so much"?
yupe, the basic idea of Ghajini was copied from Memento, and certainly, the original is better, my personal fav. and i havent watched Heroes, it was a flop too, both commercially and critically. so dont know what to make of a "a whole scene ripped off of the popular sitcom Friends".
and i asked you to provide names of 10 film from last year, and you give me films from a 5-6 years radius?
I havent seen All my Sons, but people who did let me know that RDB was nothing like it.
Sanjay Gupta is a big copier, and he acknowledges it, so yeah, i know Zinda is a copy.
Mr ya Miss is copied from Hot Chick? in the former, the boy gets transformed *into a girl, and in the later, a boy and a girl get their souls *interchanged. see the difference? you may call "Its a boy/girl thing" a Hot Chick rip off.
ever heard of the *Book *The Godfather? it features regularly in the lists of Top Ten Books ever written. you may want to check it out sometime. Sarkar was based on the Book and not the movie.
The last three are copies, agreed. and the last one in particular sucked big time.

If I sounded like i was saying "they thrive" on it then i apologize however, you also sounded as if defending them for copying hollywood. Bollywood does produce some great movies like Jodha Akbar, Swades, Lagaan but the thing is they sometimes end up copying without giving credit where it is due.
Re: Hollywood vs Bollywood
Hollywood all the way
All Bollywood does is do 3rd rate re-makes of Hollywood movies and adds Indian flare to them and presents them as original entertainment
Bollywood needs to look at China and how great their movies are and see how many American Directors are inspired by their movies
Like Quentin Tarintino who made Kill bill after watching Chinese Kung Fu Movies, or Martin Scorcese who got inspired by Hong Kong crime movies to make the Departed
