Re: Holding Qur'an over brides head?
in my family they hold the quran over the head during the rukhsati. im not even sure if i had that happened to me during my rukhsati. I know my inlaws dont do that.
but if you dont feel comfortable with having the quran over your head during the rukhsati, there are other thigns you can do to please your family and to follow your islamic values.
A beloved male relative can recite your favourite surah right before the rukhsati and lead everyone is dua. I knwo usually there is a dua at the beginning of the event and at the nikkah, but i hardly see people reciting dua at the end of the program right before the rukhsati.
And that male relative who just read that surah can give you that Quran which you can hold during your rukhsati. Nothing wrong with holding the Quran in your hands over your chest. I think it would be a really nice gift from someone for both husband and wife.
