Holding a parking spot

ok, not ok, whats your take on it?

it’s not easy finding parking anywhere in my street, we circle for a while before we can find a good spot. so usually I’ll stand there while he goes and gets the car and parks it. Normally this works out fine since it’s late at night and no one is waiting to park either, but last night someone wanted to park where we were going to park and I told him this spot was taken. :hehe:

I can get being upset over it…hell I would be too if I were in the car and saw someone standing there…
but at the same time…I don’t care? We circled around many blocks to find parking too and if we find it…well we’re taking it. Gal khatam.

Anyway, one day I think I might get run over by someone with road rage issues. oh well.

Re: Holding a parking spot

I havent had any parking probalems for a long time, but I understand the trouble people have. To be honest I have trouble parking now too its not the space issue so much as it takes me forever to reverse the car these days... its a lot more awkward if you havent been driving for a few months.

Re: Holding a parking spot

I dont know… :bummer:

if i were standing in the parking spot holding it …then it would be ok if i was someone trying to park the car and i saw someone standing in the spot then its not ok lol :hehe:

Re: Holding a parking spot

It's okay, but I'd give up the spot if the guy was nuts or worse a saeen. Cause when saeen sees a parking spot it's his spot no matter who saw it first or who's standing there.

Re: Holding a parking spot

Aaaahhh gotta love nyc. Don't think too many people can relate to this.

Re: Holding a parking spot

LOL … Why is it that any where else in the states is some what ok, but as soon as I was in NYC.. OH MY GOD

If I was trying to park and there was someone STANDING in a parking spot waiting for someone, I flipped out!!!
It could be because there’s little to no parking spaces any where, and I’m totaly OK with parking a few blocks away and having to walk, as long as I get a parking spot.
I am not about to drive around for 10 minutes trying to find a spot to park, though. That annoys me to bits and pieces.

I actually got to witness a girl get beat up for it. I felt bad because I had just finished telling her off for standing in the spot for 10 minutes :bummer:

Re: Holding a parking spot

Once i almost ran over a girl, who was holding the parking space for some1.

When i done parking, she came to me n said “Mr. move ur car, this space is already taken” n i was “Miss, i dnt mind if u want to try ur luck again, last time brake worked fine but cn’t guarantee it the next time” :cb:

Re: Holding a parking spot

DMV rule # 42. If you park your ass in a spot meant for vehicles, it's up for grabs.

Re: Holding a parking spot

lol… so how do u stand? your legs and arms wide open… inbetween the parking spot… :hehe:

Re: Holding a parking spot

:rotfl:

It happened to me once in Abu Dhabi…that city is another crazy place…so difficult to find parking..I was with my dad…this local dude was standing at the parking spot…we thought his friend is just behind us or something like that…he was no where near…still on the road stuck at a traffic light!!! grrrrrr…I actually got out of the car and got into an argument with him..and was abt to say “Shove off”, in the very impolite way when my dad dragged me off.

Re: Holding a parking spot

Sara, this is such a desi thing to do. :hehe: No actually a Polish couple did that too. :grumpy:

Re: Holding a parking spot

I can't compare my city's downtown to NYC but people would be pissed if anyone tried that here! :D

Re: Holding a parking spot

LOL! yup!

I know :hehe:

Ouch, that sucks. :frowning: I wonder how the person she held the spot for reacted.

LOL the ass is upf or grabs? haww whai.

No I just stand normally lol.

hahahaha really?

Re: Holding a parking spot

There was a russain woman holding my parking spot and when i drove to the spot, she just had this vodka look in her eyes and said, "Just Go" in a typical Russain accent. I didn't wanna mess with a drunk middleage woman. So i left.

Re: Holding a parking spot

i wonder why women only?... a desi husband would never hold a parking spot for his wife..

because guys think “if I stand my woman there, no one’s going to say anything to her..(unless she’s in NYC) If i stand there, I’ll get my ass jumped by dudes or girls.”

And because guys are usually driving the girls around :whistling:

Re: Holding a parking spot

I have seen people saving parking spots in nyc and even some areas in chicago but not in other places. So, I guess if it is okay to do such a thing in your city, then go for it.

Re: Holding a parking spot

I love you for getting that. :D

Priceless visual. Sara516 standing in the middle of an empty parking space, arms outstretched, sporting a death stare. "Drive on, beeches."
