Hockey - 25th Men’s Champions Trophy

FINAL SCORE - Pakistan(2) vs Holland(2)

Man!!! What a game full of energy, tackles and discipline! The best game of the tournament by far. Dude, we rock! Pakistan’s deep defence was off the hook even playing with 10 players at the last 5 minutes of the game, Pakistani players didn’t lose the composure. Pakistan played the best game against the best team of Hockey. I was, for a moment, back into the old good days of Pakistan Hockey when Tahir Zaman and Shahbaz Ahmed Sr. used to play.

Good thing about this game is that Pakistan was balance in the counter-attacks as well as in the defence area, though, our players did make few mistakes but recovered very soon.

You know what homies? The equalizer goal was the highlight of the game. Shabbir Ahmed came from left, Kashif Jawad ran from the 25 yrd line into the circle area, flicked the ball over Holland Goalie Guus Vogels…It was awesome as it seems to me there are no words to describe it.

With this match, Pakistan have retained second spot in the tournament. Pakistan will play its fourth match against Germany on Thursday.

Have faith, we’re coming for Gold Medal…YEAH BABY :jhanda:

Sohail Abbas :bhangra:

awesome match. pakistan outclassed hollan in every field. they should have a few more goals but umpiring was not upto the standard. anywayz congratz to pakistan for playing such a gr8 match :~)

nice match, great skills and good teams :k:

Well I understand that, but in that case Dhanraj Pillay ( I have lot of respect for his game and his passion to play for India) and co. so should keep their mouth shut. Everytime they win a tournament they start talking BS about winning Olympics and other big tournaments. They always choke in big tournaments.

I have a gut feeling that even the South Americans are going to beat us in our next match.

BTW - Congratulations to Pakistan Team. :k:

Damn it I am f***in pi$$ed.

Excellent Match. Our boys played very well.
But I think they should try to contol more of the mid field. They are just a bit easy in the mid field

Hats off to Pakistan!!! Sohail Abbas is our trump card!!!

FINAL SCORE - Australia(6) vs Germany(1)

Germans wiped out......TOTALLY! A solid performance from the Aussies as they scored more goals, acceded only one, and now tops the points table chart. {Yep...You heard me right!}

Australian Michael McCann (4) with team-mates after scoring the first goal against Germany in the Champions Trophy field hockey tournament

A young & inexperienced German side can't do much better task. The whole scenerio of resting the best German players for Athens Olympic preparation sounds really absurd. Experience makes you cautious not weak/tired. Germany has played 3 matches and lost all of them. They are set to play their next match against Pakistan tomorrow.

Players who scored for Australia

  • Michael McCann (FG 8th minute)

  • Adam Commens (FG 13th minute)

  • Grant Schubert (FG 15th minute)

  • Grant Schubert (FG 55th minute)

Player who scored for Germany

The german game seem to suck big time. Anyway, Pakistan has a good goal average ... hopefully they can make it better aganist India & Germany.

Holland, Pakistan in thrilling draw](스포츠중계A - 스포츠중계 - 해외축구중계, 야구중계, MLS중계, Hockey중계, 고화질 무료 스포츠 중계)

Defending champions The Netherlands and Pakistan played out a thrilling 2-2 draw in the Champions Trophy hockey tournament at the Wagener stadium in Amstelveen on Tuesday.

The result left them as the only unbeaten teams in the six-team competition after four days. The Dutch though lead the table with seven points from three matches. Pakistan have five from three.

In a keenly-contested match, it was the Dutch who held early ascendancy, applying pressure on the Pakistan goal. But once the Asian giants, who have won this tournament thrice, settled down after conceding a fourth minute goal, it was a keen tussle all through.

Teun de Noojier put the Dutch ahead in the fourth minute with a good deflection past goalkeeper Ahmad Alam. A little earlier he had tested Alam with a stiff reverse flick.

Pakistan drew level in the 27th minute after a dominant spell, as Sohail Abbas scored from the team’s third penalty-corner. A little earlier Alam did well to save Taeke Taekema flick from a penalty-corner.

But Taekema was on target from Holland’s third penalty corner, the first in the second session, in the 59th minute.

The reverse spurred the Pakistanis into frenzied activity and they were all over the Dutch goal. Gus Vogels brought off a couple of good saves but he was unable to stop a brilliant run by Kashif Jawad, who carried the ball from the 25 yard line and scored with a delectable flick over him.

From then on the ball swung end to end but without success for either team.

Match summary: Netherlands 2 (Teun de Nooijer, Taeke Taekema) drew with Pakistan 2 (Sohail Abbas, Kashif Jawad).

Indian team captain Dhanraj Pillay holds off Juan Pablo Hourquebie of Argentina during their Champions Trophy Field hockey match in Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Argentina proved that they are the strong & dangerous unit. Together, they played like a team. Argentina's Goalie Vivaldi was at his best, saved great long pass hits from the Indian players. With this win, Argentina has moved one spot above in the points table chart.

Indian Prabhjot Singh (R) takes the ball away from Argentine Fernando Zylberberg during their Champions Trophy field hockey match in Amsterdam, The Netherlands

India, despite of having more possession of ball could not captalized the game. Most of the time, they just played hockey in the midfield, tried to clear the ball than taking it into the circle area. With this 3rd loss in the tournament, India must have to win its last Do & Die match against Pakistan on Friday, otherwise, they'll be playing for 5th & 6th position, likely with Germany.

Players who scored for Argentina

  • Mario Almada (PC 17th minute)

  • Matais Vila (FG 23rd minute)

  • Mario Almada (FG 37th minute)

  • Jorge Lombi (PC 42nd minute)

Players who scored for India

  • Baljit Singh Dhillon (FG 47th minute)
