Iran has been hurt more by the sanctions, its foolish pursuit to fight with Israel than its domestic issues. Of course it needs to address the grievances of its people, and its government is MUCH better positioned to do so than Pakistan.

As for problems in the country, I spend a month each time I was there, without any fear of persecution (I’m not shia), or any threats of terrorism. I don’t speak a word of farsi and was carrying a Swiss passport. SO the next time you’re getting a full body search in Pakistan or running away from the next suicide bombing, just remember what I wrote.

Uh huh, too bad you don’t represent the millions who are against the regime. People aren’t asking for it to be overthrown but merely to be open to change.

The fact that you were in Iran and didn’t have any problems bears nothing to the problems of the people in Iran. You probably wouldn’t feel the same if you were a Moosavi and saw your family getting beaten to death. Somehow I think your stand would be very different. Too bad you don’t see the whole picture.

Its amazing how I was travelling around Pakistan for months and didn’t get a full body search, nor did I encounter a suicide bombing nor did I come across any violence personally. OMG! That must mean everything is perfect right?! See how I used your point in favour of Iran in favour of Pakistan? Point is hundreds and thousands of people don’t encounter problems but the problems don’t disappear.

Underneath that facade is public sentiment that is a festering sore that needs to be addressed. Both in Pakistan and Iran.
