I think you need to clarify this statement. Islam does not discourage curiosity or the seeking of answers, and who is to decide what is unnecessary curiosity or not.

In fact Islam tells us to ask questions - that we should not blindly follow, but be informed in our choices - our faith and our practice and understanding of the world around us should be enlightened and not blind faith or practice.

By unnecessary curiosity, I mean running after things like what will happen in the life of a particular person. ‘Ye hafta kaisa rahe ga’ type things

You are right that Islam encourages to ponder on God’s nature and talk about ‘Ilm ul Yaqeen’ and ‘Ain ul Yaqeen’. Even as per Quran, Prophets like Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) asked Allah to demonstrate, how He will give life to the dead ones, which shows that Islam encourages positive curiosity.
