History of Brands

Re: History of Brands

If ghutka is tobacco then there are many brands like City gutka, 2100, etc. One of my cousin chew it all the day. :smack: The government has put restriction on gutka also known as manpuri/ Mawaa :hehe:, but people don’t bother them.

Naswar is a type of dipping tobacco, made from fresh tobacco leaves, calcium oxide (chuna), and wood ash.

:omg: F16 Naswar

There was a totka for using Naswar for handling Lizards. If lizard tastes naswar, it fall on floor due to unconscious. But recently my Ammi said ’ Her cheez main milawat.. ab to naswar bhi chiapkalion pe asar nahi karti)

Re: History of Brands

Tobacco, Kathaa,Chuuna comes in the category of Khaini:D, still prevalent in India, In UP it is called Shankh khaini:D, In beedi it is Chand Beedi:)

Instead of F-16, they should MiG-21 gutkha, like this aircraft, lizards would also fall:)

Re: History of Brands

hahaha… There used to be a Bus with Route number F-16… but that was the slowest bus I traveled by

There is this W-11 bus, that most famous in Karachi. It has a very long route from one end to the other end of the city (covering almost 30 km area).

Re: History of Brands

That MiG-21 joke would have made my dad angry though:D, with bus i remember a line of a poem "Mazaa hi khuch aur hai", it is hasya ras, comic, "Ek hi khoonti par bahut saare kapde taangne ka, DTC ki bus ki seat se spung (sponge) nikalne ka, mazaa hi khuch aur hai:D

In delhi, it was murderer BlueLine busses which were famous now they are off road as metro covers delhi as much DMRC, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation is the most recognized transport brand:)

Re: History of Brands

Wasn't that MiG-21 nominated for Nobel Prize of Peace :D

Re: History of Brands

Before that it also deserves Bir Sreshtho from Bangladesh, as in the war, this warbird had the most pivotal role in eastern sector:), and also in the first supersonic aircombat it was this aircraft that brought down F-104A starfigher, even in infamous Atlatique Incident, this was the culprit:)

Overused, IAF is thinking "why to phase it out, let it fall:D"

Nokia - From Paper mill to Global Telecommunication Leader

In 1865, mining engineer Fredrik Idestam sets up his first wood pulp mill at the Tammerkoski Rapids in south-western Finland. A few years later he opens a second mill on the banks of the Nokianvirta river, which inspires him to name his company Nokia Ab in 1871. **
**
Mobile Era begins

Nokia sets the ball rolling in 1979, creating radio telephone company Mobira Oy as a joint venture with leading Finnish TV maker Salora.** 1981 then sees the launch of the Nordic Mobile Telephone (NMT) service, the world’s first international cellular network and the first to allow international roaming.
**

The NMT standard catches on fast and the mobile phone industry begins to expand rapidly. In 1982, Nokia introduces the first car phone – the Mobira Senator – to the network. That same year, the Nokia DX200, the company’s first digital telephone switch, goes into operation.

**In 1984, Nokia launches the Mobira Talkman portable car phone. Resembling a military field telephone, it’s a fairly cumbersome piece of kit – but it’s a start.

**Then in 1987, Nokia introduces the Mobira Cityman, the first handheld mobile phone for NMT networks. Despite weighing in at 800 grams and a price tag of 24,000 Finnish Marks (around EUR 4,560), it goes on to become a classic. **The Cityman even earns a nickname, the “Gorba”, after Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev is pictured using one to make a call from Helsinki to his communications minister in Moscow.

Over the next decade, millions of consumers worldwide enjoy their very own Gorbachev moment as the mobile revolution takes hold.

Re: History of Brands

Nokia is most successful brand in India, because of its battery backup:), In rural UP and Bihar where power supply is poor, Nokia brought highest battery back up, affordable, new innovation especially torch light eased paroling in fields during night. Nokia 1100 is most farmer-friendly phone in this regard:)

Re: History of Brands

Yes Nokia is also popular due to stable battery and user friendly interface in Pakistan. During last few years, many brands have been developed using imported and cheaper sets from China. The most famous being Q-Mobile. Q-Mobile had to face a controversy due to some error in software, due to which the name of prophet couldn’t be written in text messages. This leads to controversy that its owned by Qadyanis / Ahmedis :smack:

Re: History of Brands

Chinese mobiles are known as chinese mobile only:D, no gaurentee involved, very loud voice, it became controversial because it doesn't have IMEI number, that is unique with mobiles, now it has this feature, it is prevelent in low income groups, though Nokia is brand for low income group, In middle and upper group Samsung has better market.

Re: History of Brands

These China sets (with dual SIM and camera sets) are most popular in low income groups. They also need to have a memory card, so that they can enjoy Indian songs during loadshedding :)

Re: History of Brands

Now even companies like Smasung has come up with dual sim, Camera is still poor in chinese set, My personal favourite is Motorola, I always had motorola only:)
Songs are Indian because bollywood is Indian brand, otherwise it has good number of pakistani singers as well:), Even Yana and Maryam Zakaria are dancing in item numbers:D
Movie is not superhit unless it has UP element of Chulbul pandey or "Dilwalon ke dil ka karar lootne, mein aayi hoon UP bihar lootne:D"

Re: History of Brands

What is the situation with the brand-ing of Pooja paat items like Agar Batti in India. We had a Billi Marka Metro Millan Agar Batti in Pakistan  I don’t know why they used Billi for brand-ing such pavatir thing.

Re: History of Brands

Billi is very pious animal, My saas says if it get killed even accidentally, one has to give a cat of gold in Kashi Vishwanath temple:(. In my Poojaghar only "diya" is used and it should burn 24/7:).

well what is most popular brand of newspaper in Urdu and English there:)

Re: History of Brands

In Pakistan its Daily Dawn 'founded by Mr Jinnah' in 1941:D Mr Jinah is still considered to be the most stylist person in Pakistan. His Jinah Cap is still in fasion with the old generation. But the most favourite brand related to Mr Jinah is Pakistani currency :D

In Urdu, Daily Jang (The group that own Geo Tv group) is the most read Urdu daily In Pakistan.

What about India?
