Historic Thread: 2nd Test @ Headingley, Pakistan STUFF Australia after 15 years

re: Historic Thread: 2nd Test @ Headingley, Pakistan STUFF Australia after 15 years

2 successive fours by Malik  Is it T20 game

re: Historic Thread: 2nd Test @ Headingley, Pakistan STUFF Australia after 15 years

Go Malik GO :jhanda:

depends on how long Malik and Kamran stay on the wicket. I don’t think the good performance of our bowlers have been destroyed. We are leading by 120 runs and another 80 runs will put us in a very strong position. Yes Sydney is there but it doesnt happen all the time plus the team is in a different mindset.

Go Pak. :jhanda:

re: Historic Thread: 2nd Test @ Headingley, Pakistan STUFF Australia after 15 years

can somebody tell Malik and K Akmal that this is test match and they need to stay there till the end of the day...at least??

both need to play till the end of day, that is how we can get a good lead, Pakistan shouldn’t be batting 2nd and it they had to, then they shouldn’t be chasing anything above 100

re: Historic Thread: 2nd Test @ Headingley, Pakistan STUFF Australia after 15 years

218/5 at lunch

Lead of 130 runs

End of day is bit too much to ask, the pitch is not that easy to bat on. Secondly if we cant chase 100 runs in the second innings than we deserve to lose. Come on have some faith, we do have a brittle batting line up but Aus bowling line up is hardly anything to shout about. We have a lead of 130 runs another 70 will be very good.

Pakistan build lead despite two losses

Pakistan 218 for 5 (Malik 17, K Akmal 11*) lead Australia 88 by 130 runs*

Australia made inroads during a shortened morning session at Headingley but Pakistan’s lead still stood at a commanding 130. Mitchell Johnson ended Umar Akmal’s flamboyant innings and Ben Hilfenhaus removed Umar Amim when he left his bat exposed as he ducked a bouncer. They should have made a third breakthrough but Mike Hussey spilled Kamran Akmal in the gull shortly before the interval.
A damp outfield delayed the start by 45 minutes, but there was enough action in the opening over from Johnson to make up for lost time. Umar played an elegant square cut but was then caught off a no-ball from the fourth delivery when he had an almighty mow across the line and skied a catch to cover. It’s hard to believe he had time to hear the call - which replays suggested was harsh - and it was clear Umar was in no mood for consolidation.
Predictably, he didn’t survive long as Johnson located the right line outside off and found the edge, but Australia’s early bowling was again varied. Hilfenhaus strayed onto leg stump which allowed Amin to collect easy runs through the on side while Johnson struggled to maintain a consistent line.
Shoaib Malik, back in the side following Shahid Afridi’s departure, played a couple of confident early drives although was denied boundaries by the slow outfield, but he did find the rope twice in succession off the struggling Doug Bollinger as the left-arm over pitched outside off then strayed onto the pads.
Amin had battled hard to lay a foundation which made his dismissal more disappointing when he failed to pull his bat down, as he ducked a Hilfenhaus short ball, and a catch flew off the toe end to square leg. Australia should have been into the tail when Kamran, on 10, drove loosely at Bollinger but Hussey was unable to hold a regulation chance and it was a mistake they could ill afford.

and its really hard for them and after a single dismissal our tails will be down with in 10 to 20 score :bummer:
Hussey dropped a chance of Akmal and lets c it will pay or not ?

Hussey was just returning the favor
