Totally out of curiosity (honest! no other motive)… what caste are they? The reason im wondering this is the way everybody makes fun of poor balaji (dark complexion, light weight body etc) almost makes him look like one of the dalit (untouchables).
Whats tendulkar? I’m guessing he’s probably a brahmin. And Kumble and Dinesh Kartik. And Kapil Dev, Sanjay Manjrekar Ravi Shastri etc etc. If theres ever been a lower caste player in team, has anybody ever heard of an incident where a higher caste player might refuse to play with him?
On a similar note, what caste is Danish Kaneria? And please nobody tell me caste system is abolished because its still practiced (just like theres white supremacists who still exist in texas and all over n.america).
This forum is about Cricket and we can keep this to that, We are trying our best in this country to get out of this problem and another problem of reservation it has created.

No, we don’t select “lower caste player” without first receiving a guarantee that he will not particpate in the “team huddle” and will remain at an arm’s length from other players.

I'm sure most of us here are mature enough to discuss any taboo topic (is this even taboo?) like adults. This was a problem before and this is a problem in India today as well, like it or not. All i asked is weather this attitude has made its way to the cricket system in india or not.

Every entity has its darker side (most anyway). I'll be the first one to accept PCB for a good part of its history has been selective of its players based on their religion. They seem to be getting rid of that racist practice now bit by bit.
Now, you made a sweeping statement Caste System is based. It became decadant by the way it got interpreted by sections of Hindus, exactly the way Islam is having problems with Jehad the way some sections are interepreting it.

There is hardly anybody thinking about caste in sports field. I do not have any idea about caste of the players. And also being black does not mean that he is not brahmin. There are black Brahmin south indian as well.
The cricket team did not care about religion so why would they care about caste.
