Its no more a village now. A medium size town with a population of more than 300,000. Back in early 90s there were many Hindu homes in our neighbor around 20 homes out of 100 homes in our Muhala. They gradually migrated to India (I don't know the reason why they migrated lately when they lived 3-4 decades after partition with peace. I don't remember any Hindu-Muslim conflict there).

I remember some Hindu families used to sell pickle (achaar) and Papad and all Muslim families bought these things from them. Even today, we brought papad here in Karachi to distribute to our Muslim friends, without telling them that sometimes they are bought from Hindu families :D

Kerala is state with people of almost all major religion around the globe....there was a significant population of jews in kerala

You know Sindhi Hindus are still well off and in our town, they are mostly running their business or related to teaching profession. So,better availability might be the reason, but not the only reason, because its really difficult to leave the land of your ancestors.

Recently, some Hindu women from India visited our home and they were crying like anything while meeting our Dada. They were saying to our Dada ‘Kaka! tawhankhe dhitho seen, eeyan lagho baba khe dhitho si - Looking at you, we remember our Baba’.

They used to say all our ancestors were buried at this place how can we leave this place.

Agree. Our Dadi used to tell us that at the time of partition (she had a particular term for partition i.e. Hinduon main Bhaajh - Hinduon main bhagdar), they were very upset and many of their Hindu friends were leaving. Those friends were like family members and they even used to call each other sauta (Sindhi for chacha zad bhai).

very few people from maharashtra migrated to pakistan....but horror of partition is well known........

I read that one of the horror of the partition was to make water of the wells of other communities poisonous by adding certain poisonous material. :(

The enmity that started from separate glasses/ pots of water was at its peak during partition.

Nope.. creation is to give life and not to kill. They killed each other, because they forgot all the creativity of attachment and tolerating others that was being taught to them since centuries by people like Budha, Guru Nanak, Bulhay Shah, Waris Shah, etc

Yes you are right people kill each other for money when they are assured that they are wrong....

but in such riots they had moral support of their communities.........

Yes, many people were killed by other communities forgetting friendly relationships of centuries. Our literature is full of such stories. ‘Gurmukh Singh ki Wasiyat’ is also a stroy dealing with this issue:

The end of the story is quite shocking depicting how centuries old relationship changed in enmity.

When traditions like ‘Hindu Pani, Muslim Pani’ prevail in a society that can never be tolerant and people will kill others once they got opportunity to do so. :frowning:

We still have communal riots every year in diffrent part of india...though both communities have move forward from ghost of partition massacre...but still a small provocation is enough for a riot.....
But in same manner killings of hindus by militants in pakistan is a saddening thing........:(

In Pakistan, its something not related to religion, where the rule of 'might is right' works. Those people don't see whether a person is a Hindu or Muslim. They just see their interests.

but media turn these incidences into communally motivated incidences....
i know lot of muslims are also dying in pakistan at the hands of terrorists ....
in india we had meeruth riots,1992 riots and then gujrat riots....there are lot of riots on small scales those do not gain media publicity..
though south india is very peaceful except few parts of karnataka....
