Hinda, Abu Sufyan’s wife - The one who ripped open the dead body of Hamza (prophet saw’s uncle) and ate his liver in the battle of Uhud o_O Did she ever convert to Islam once Makkah was conquered?
Also, did Abu Sufyan accept Islam out of fear (since he was no longer the leader of Makkah) even though the muslims made it clear that everyone in Makkah is safe and there will be no bloodshed in the holy city?
Both of them led a pretty ignorant way of life before converting to Islam but the purpose of this thread isn’t to defame them. Dr. Google wasn’t giving up any proper results for “hinda converted to islam” so I was just wondering what happened to her. Since Muawiyah’s family was a muslim family, Hind must have converted too but unlike Abu Sufyan’s life accounts, there isn’t much to read about her life after accepting Islam. Any sources, Jafri? It’s all an interesting read.
Also, there’s this site that supposedly clears all Islamic myths And one of the examples they use for proving that Islam was spread by the sword is Abu Sufyan. Why would he feel threatened is another question I am asking.
They submitted to the law of Allah (SWT) and accepted Islam publicly … more than this we can never know and we are not required to know …
… Islam a way of greatness and this greatness amongst other reasons is that the doors to forgiveness are never closed. And it is my understanding that those who accepted Islam and saw Muhammad (SAW) deserve our respect and are treated as part of the Sahabah.
***It appeared simply impossible that the Prophet (peace upon him) would forgive Abu Sufyan. Time and again, he had tried his utmost to crush Islam, and many Muslims were killed at his hands. But the Prophet’s (peace upon him) merciful nature was extended to friend and foe alike. Abu Sufyan was forgiven and after twenty long years his heart was opened to the truth. He embraced Islam and declared his belief without reservation. The Prophet (peace upon him) then told Abu Sufyan to return to Makkah and inform the Quraysh that the Muslims would enter the city the following morning. Before his departure, al-‘Abbas made a request to the Prophet (peace upon him) that as Abu Sufyan was a proud man, it would be good to give him an honourable position. The Prophet took his uncle’s advice and said to Abu Sufyan, “Tell your people that he who enters the house of Abu Sufyan is safe, he who enters his own house is safe and he who enters the area of the Ka’bah is safe.”
Such was the merciful nature of the Prophet (peace upon him) that he bore no grudges against the idolaters of Makkah and was willing not only to forgive, but also to honour his former enemies. http://www.mercyprophet.org/mul/node/712
***Just as the uncle of RasoolAllah (RA) and himself (SAW) never questioned Abu Sufyan yet honoured him, then why should we question him and his wife … perhaps they were content with Allah (SWT) and perhaps He is content with them … Allahu’alim.
I never for a second meant to disrespect them I saari if the thread came across that way. I’m just reading a lot of Islamic history these days and I want to know as much about each person I came across in the historic accounts as possible. I just find it all very interesting.
Thank you for your reply :k: and SubhanAllah at Prophet saw!
I was going through Molana Mododi's Tafseer Qur'aan. Surah Mumtahina (Rukoo 2, Para 28) ki tafseer main jahan Fateh Makka ke bad khwateen ka Huzoor e Akram (SAW) k hath pe Baiyat ka zikr hai, wahan pe likha hai ke hinda ne Baiyat ki aur Islam Qabool Kar liya.
Not even Hinda but the slave (wheshi) who commited that act on Hinda’s order, also converted. Prophet pardoned him but requested him not to come in front of him as his face reminded Prophet of Hazrat Hamza
afaik he also and certainly his familly went on extetsive JIHAD campaigns for the muslims. his son yazid bin sufiyan RA died out somewhere in northwest frontier area gaining land for the muslims.
when his younger son Muovia RA was promoted to lead that direction, he always sought permission for further campaigns and gained the biggest successes i know of
theres a couple of letters (you’ll need to check authenticity) existing today that were sent by the Prophet SAW and signed by Muovia bin sufiyan (as the scribe) they give assurances of peace to the recipients (non muslims)
the two sides of the fighting coin are above from the familly of abu sufiyan from the post conversion period. one for the big empires which felt threatened thus wanted to fight islam and one for the vulnerables who didnt
The history isn’t all depressing stuff, you stumble upon some beautiful things when researching the history. I tear up even if it isn’t something tragic At the end of the day, you’re only strengthening your imaan by learning more. There’s a reason why “Iqraa” (read) was the first revelation.

I know of the battles that Abu Sufyan and his descendants fought for muslims after accepting Islam but, as you might have noticed, there isn't much stuff written about Hind's life. So I was just wondering.
Yep Hinda, Wehshi, Abu Sufyan all are muslims. Only non muslim left among arabs was Hazrat Abu Talib a.s.
How do some of you even digest the history u read ?
Sarcasm well taken Aqeel, but unless we just ignore Bukhari and Muslim, we cannot deny the fact that hinda, wehshi and abu sufyan did convert to Islam.
Abu Talib...then who was Abu Lahab? I heard some lecture on t.v. in that I heard that one of the person who was Prophet Mohammad uncle was against Islam and never converted either but since on the day when Prophet Mohammad was born he did something nice because he was happy...in hell two fingers (the ones that he raised to order to free the slaves or something) those two fingers come and quench his thirst...i don't remember the whole thing properly...it came durin eid milad ul nabi days...and the guy said that it was Hazrat ali or someone else who had this dream...correct me if i am wrong or tell me the whole thing if someone knows..
