Basically in southern Punjab and Sindh, we have a feudal system. The land belongs to these families, who are referred to as waderas. Most of the people on their land are bonded, i.e they are paying off a historic debt. Many might not even remember what the orignal debt was. So they work for free, basically slaves. Her uncle was a certain Malik Ghulam Mustafa Khar, who the CM of Punjab in the seventees. There are documented cases of Mustafa Khar being involved in abducting girls.

**true…and it’s shame that in this time and age we are still seeing pockets of abject slavery. i think Maulana Abul Kalam Azad was against the creation of Pakistan because of this reason. he believed that the democracy will not work in the new Pakistan as the system was run and would be run by so called waderas and jagirdars. democracy ran against their way of life.

OMG, the deeper you dig into this family’s past the more dirt you find. it’s a serious allegation against her uncle…was he ever arrested/charged/convicted of the crime? **
