See…thats just it. The whole purpose of hejab is technically to detract attention away from one’s self, and keep away the ‘vulgar gaze’ of unrelated men. Don’t you see how ‘dressing hot’ goes against that? On one hand, youre tying a piece of fabric over your hair to take attention away from your appearence, and on the other, you’re dressing in such a manner that draws as much attention as possible to your person. Unless you’re just mindlessly fulfilling the word of the law for the sake of it, it really doesnt make sense to wear hejab and ‘dress hot’ at the same time.
well i guess some people are right in saying that there is no point for a bride to wear hijab if shes attracting so much attention by what she wears, but i still think its important for girls who want to wear hijab on their wedding to ge an idea of ways to pull it off. so i've been searching and so far this is what i've found.
heeeeeeeeeey I know this girl. I met her in Medinah last year
well Ramsha join the club. I am so much confused myself. I am in now way gonna compromise with the hijab but I really want a traditional bride look as well..hmmm..
How about segregating the men and the women totally, so that the hijabi bride doesn't have to wear hijab and can dress however she wants? They can bring the groom to her side, as well as her father, father-in-law, brothers, and uncles.
Well I'm a hijabi and I wore my hijab at my nikkkah, wedding reception and valima. I had no issues with it at all and everyone was so supportive. Alhamdulilah.
Random ppl are random. let them remain random and dont let them influence you!!
y dont u get a hight neck top with lots of kaam on the high neck and dont wear jelwellery there and wear a matha patti to cover the front hair..that way u will still wear jewellery and cover urself..I guess I m gonna do that..not sure that though…
Screw them!! I had ppl telling me that what I was wearing for the wedding reception was "too simple" for a bride and yada yada yada. I couldn't care less. I told them straight up...I'm a simple person and this is what I feel most comfortable in. When I added some eye rolling at the end...they became quiet. :D
ya hinna, i'm not really a "girly" girl i like simple, i've had the biggest problem with people telling me i'm choosing things too simple for a bride, but in the end i know what looks good on me, and i'm the one whose gonna have to wear it for hours, i don't want to be uncomfortable at my own wedding. i will try the eye rolling...:D:
Ramsha…hehe good luck! I was totally unconventional at my wedding. On my nikkah day I wore a shalwar kameez that my in-laws gave me. On the wedding reception I wore a bluey/greeny/gray shalwar kameez and on the valima, since my in-laws bought me a lengha, I wore that. I got a lot of comments on how I was different, but yet it suited me. I also got comments on how I was soo not bridal. Whatever!:halo:
Hi all i've been reading this thread and my mom has a business selling hijabs. We have all sorts of hijabs if anyone is interested please contact me. We have hijabs that are attached to an underscarf, with bonnets, and also the amira slip on hijabs. So again if anyone is interested let me know.
i’m getting married in half a year and i was having the same problem. i came across a picture of a “hijabi” dulhan someone posted on here a while back and after i thought about it some more… here’s what i’ve decided to do:
i plan on covering my hair the way the girl in the attached picture did. but she had left her neck area completely open.
with the shirt though, i plan on have the shirt made so that the neckline doesn’t stop where it stops in the picture attached, but will extend all the way up to the jawline so that my neck and chest are completely covered. that collar will have to be completely flat and as fitted around my neck as possible. then the embroidery and other kaam on the shirt will stop where the neckline usually is in normal desi sharara tops.
the necklace and stuff will just go over that collar business and cover up most of it. and any areas where my neck would have been visible will be covered by the shirt fabric.
i used paint to edit that original picture to give my mom an idea of what it might look like… and she’s down with it… keep in mind that the fabric will match better and the actual neckline will be closer up to the necklace…
