Jilbab = loose cloak/robe/kaftan covering entire body upto ankles
Niqaab = veil covering face

ok this is the only bride i could find who is covering her hair, but her nec k is stil exposed. i was wondering if it would work if i had the front of my hijab done with the same kaam as my clothes, and a chinese style collar.

Whats the point of covering ure hair if ure wearing loads of fancy clothes and jewelry and makeup? It defeats the real purpose of hijab, and just looks ridiculous

well we're having a seperate section for the men and the women, but i still want to wear hijab just in case someone walks in. i don't think its rediculous for a women who wears hijab to want to dress up for her wedding.

I m so glad that they r still sum girls out there who thinks bout all this..its GreaT!
If its all seperate then dont wear hijab..like make a guard stop any man entering the women section or sumthing..rite..u should b all free that day!
Will u b having women waitresses to serve?..cuz i saw that in one of my relatives wedding in karachi! I think its really neat!

Its been hard cause generally my relatives in pakistan keep trying to convince me to not wear hijab at the wedding. the wedding is still in plans don't really have the date set yet, my fiance is just finishing his masters, and i'm just about done my bachelors, so some time after that. Inshallah if we can find waitresses we'll have them. Do you know where your cousin got married? cause i've heard that women servers are REALLY hard to find.

a lot of people don't realise that "hijaab" isn't all about covering your hair, its about the way you present yourself, and the way you act. if someone decided to preserve hijaab than they must cover their hair, forehead, and neck. PLUS they must wear loose clothing, refrain from the use of makeup [kajol is premitted] and they must act in accordance to the rules of islam.

Ramsha I agree! Not to generalize but sometimes I will see a girl wearing hijaab acting in the most improper manner and it really irritates me. Hijab isnt just a piece of material to wear on your head but a whole set of rules regarding modesty which you have to obey and incorporate into your life. One of my non-Muslim friends once told me that she went to a nightclub and saw a bunch of girls in hijaab and because she knows a lot about hijaab and the rules that go with it, she questioned their being there. Their reply was that because they weren't gonna drink, dance or talk to men it was ok for them to be there...

I like Sahar's idea - wear the dupatta on the shoulders if you want a hijaab that is covering your neck area as well.

i think definitely i agree with u...some hijabi's make me angry...like they'll wear something to school that i wud wear lol) to a wedding and ur like...is this hijab?! lol
but with hijab its really hard to pair up matching clothes...cause obviously no one wants to look like a doofus...but i think its easier for many hijabi's to dress up and feel good about themselves than it is to dress down...
on a daily basis...every girl...hijab or no hijab wants to look 'hot' and feel confident...so i think its more of that ...i dunno just generalizing..:)
but do remember...that hijab is just not a head cover...hijab is from the eyes...ears EVERYTHING....hijab/(headcover or no headcover) every girl should have a hijab that takes her to right path...

i think the funniest thing is when i'm a a gathering or something, and all these girls are not wearing hijab [which is fine, personal choice] but then when a dua or azzan comes on and everthing from see through dupattas, and table napkins become a hijab

This is one of my very close friends who got married about 3 years ago. She had bought the outfit in NY from Jackson Heights and had it altered - had the sleeves added, the scarf made from similar material, and the gold, neck piece and head piece (the one that goes under the scarf to hold it in place. By the way, her neck from the right isn't bare, it's covered by a very light gold material. She had to wear all the jewellery somehow to please her parents and in laws, lol. She looked gorgeous despite that fact that they made her look a bit pale-ish, and she's already quite fair as it is. Hope you get some idea, and good luck.
