my best friends sister who does hijab just got married. she wore a farshi lehenga and a gown-like long kamiz with it. she used her dupatta and her matha patti to cover her hair, and her neck area was covered by the collar of the gown (band galla, or high-neck sherwani style galla). it did the job of her being in purdah, and looked stunning without looking awkward in any way.
