oh and in a very wider cultural context, women in in ancient greece and rome and persia also fully covered themselves (head to toe). Although to them this was solely to identify themselves as being of the wealthy, aristocratic class. Women of the lower classes were not allowed to cover, with the threat of punishment if they ever did.

I concur. You are finally talking sense.
Wish I could say the same about you.
fg I hate you.![]()
the first part was about how to help chameli with her hijab issues. The rest seems to be whether its mandatory or not.Why cant it be in religion?Btw I dont really mind if it stays so long as I can post away.
humhaipakistani I agree.You’re very sensible.

And this was your reply before the above comment:** However, none of the sources could prove that IT IS AN OBLIGATION TO WEAR HIJAAB.**
This was one of your posts.Either you're confused or you forgot what you said before.
Bottom note, people who are wearing the hijab do so because they believe it is correct. They dont have to invent any ayahs to make themselves feel better. If the non hijabis dont wish to wear it, they should be happy with their decisions. However, thats not enough of a reason to deny the ayahs that do exist about hijab.

When I said no one was TOTALLY denying the requirements of Hijab, I meant the requirements of wearing hijab while praying, performing hajj, and etc.
FUNGUY is making more sense than you ladies :p ..... get off his back!! ..
If you believe it isnt an obligation then why bother wearing it while you pray?
Muslim_Queen ... humhaipakistani ..... niether one of you came up with a single verse of Quran that proves FG wrong. !!
I am not sure if 'hijab' (as u do it) is required for salaat. ANd even if it, it's no different than wuzzu which is also required for salaat but not 24/7.
dimaagh--we did you just didnt notice.
fg I would hate to break it to you...but you still dont know what you're saying.
… wearing it while praying is different than wearing it all the time. besides, it is to pay respect! … If you feel obligated to wear it, go ahead wear it. Also, it will be a little too disrecpectful to pray without a hijab.
funguy u're quite the religious quack aren't you?
so erm which verse was it that proved finguy 'right', again?
MQ- I never said I am saying anything. I am basically pasting what I think is right. You don't have to agree with me.
hum - what's a religious quack?

I found the same verses on other websites. Didn't quiet answer my question.
Let me repeat my question. If it were an obligation, why was it never stated, spoken, written in clear words???
hum and MQ - so you are NOW justifying wearing of 'hijab' with salaat? There are many other things one does while praying, do you keep youself in that state of mind (and physically) all the time?

haha good one. With your logic it means we should be able to do a whole lot of other things while we're not on the prayer mat.Worshipping Allah does not happen just in prayer -- its during every other step in life. Its while we're talking ,walking --- you're not following your faith just in prayer.
fg-- I know I dont have to agree with you.You can paste until your pc crashes, Im simply saying you were wrong in your comment about hijab.
Sheesh, some of you just luuuv arguing about the same thing over and over again. :p

Namaz is farz and whatever we must do for salah (before and after), we should. There are no subtitutions/alternatives as far as namaz is concerned. :p
