Re: High chair recommendations

After doing much research we settled on the tatamia peg perego, we did spend a little more but so far it has got to be the best high chair ever, what I love about this particular one is that I can take off the cover and wash under warm water with soap, it’s not fabric so it dries rather quickly

Re: High chair recommendations

I bought Graco Blossom 4-in-1… Love love love it. Its easy to clean and becomes booster to youth chair.. You can use it four ways. It comes with so many additional things that you can use. It’s also reasonably priced. Graco Blossom 4-in-1 High Chair Seating System - Capri - Graco - Babies “R” Us

Re: High chair recommendations

high chairs may be convenient but i believe that human touch is essential with the baby at eating time…this helps develop the bond between the mother/father and the child.

Re: High chair recommendations

^ well i’m sure she’d be feeding the baby lol. its not like they can eat on their own at 6 months. human touch can be reserved for all the rest of the non-feeding day. kids also need to learn to be independent

i have the oxo tot sprout chair. our biggest issue was space and i wanted him to be able to eat at the dining table with us eventually too. this one has the footprint of a dining chair so its perfectly sized, everything is easily cleaned, it converts to a chair for an older kid, and it looks good!

Re: High chair recommendations

what i meant is that a mother’s or father’s lap can never be replaced with a high chair…feeding the baby in the lap is a closeness that counts…it’s like hugging your baby and feeding at the same time…there are plenty of time for the child to be independent. this can wait for a couple of years…you may not agree with me but i’m sure others will agree with my point of view. i strongly believe that physical contact with babies are a must for the bond to grow stronger.

Re: High chair recommendations

you obviously don’t have children yet! hahahahahah sorry but that’s too funny! :stuck_out_tongue:

Re: High chair recommendations

doesn’t matter lol…i’ve taken care of children from age 9…i’ve been part of raising my sisters and my nieces and nephews…i think i’ve quite a bit of experience…don’t you think i’m qualified to make some calls? i had a rough childhood when my mom passed away suddenly. i was only 9 years old and i had siblings younger than me. i know more than an average mom/dad will know…ask me any question!

Re: High chair recommendations

my 3 month old doesn’t want to take his milk in our lap anymore, he wants us to lay him down so he can be independent and hold his bottle.
Let the child be independent, it is lot of fun for them to experience that independence and for you to watch them. You will have plenty of other opportunities when you will be able to hold or cuddle with them.

High chair recommendations

I didnt want to purchase a high chair to begin with but then i decided that it will be a very good idea to buy one as i was running round my son to feed him. So i got one from ikea. Its great. It does a fantastic job, cleans well. No fabrics that will stain etc. although it doesnt fold away, the legs are soooo easy to remove. Especially if you need to travel with it. I think it was a great buy and only cost 7 pounds!!!

Re: High chair recommendations

There’s plenty of time to hug your baby AFTER she/he’s eaten lol. Might work fine when baby is still a baby but I can’t even imagine doing that with a toddler. I’d go crazy. Thank god for her high chair!!

And KKF I know you’ve been through a lot but to say that you know more than a parent would is crazy! No one knows a child better than its mother.

Re: High chair recommendations

I agree that human touch/closeness is paramount, but there is nothing wrong with independent feeding either. And like Wendy said, it’s kind of hard to hand feed your child every morsel while seated in your ghodi, when you have another child (or 2 more like in my case!) who need attention too.

I made this mistake with my 9 yr old. He was our first born and my “miracle baby”, so we totally coddled him. Fast forward to now, he is just now getting to the point where he is self sufficient. Whereas with my twins, I did not have that luxury…from day one, I taught them to be as independent as possible..and it worked! From soothing themselves back to sleep, to feeding themselves…it has carried over into their personalities. They have never been clingy, don’t need my husband or I hovering over them, are super flexible and confident.

So I really see high chairs or and booster seats as a necessity, under parent supervision of course!

Re: High chair recommendations

and when you feed them in your laps and such, thats when they become dependent on you! I have seen six year old kids being spoonfed by mommies! I am not doing that to my child.. he sits in his high chair and eats himself!Usually I feed him in his high chair before I eat my meal and then let him play with the leftover (some goes in the mouth too) while I eat my dinner peacefully!

I love my child but I am not spoiling him or making him mommy’s boy… time to raise independent boys :stuck_out_tongue:

Re: the topic.. this highchair was handed down to us and we have been using it since he started his solids at 6 months.. so far so good!

Re: High chair recommendations

Ok thanx everyone who replied to the topic.
N yes I agree with others that .. It’s imp for them to independent and .. By feeding them in ur lap they won’t learn to eat together I also want my baby to wear with use with time independently…
plus he is just 6 months n wants everything in his hand n lil hyper… So it will b easy to place him in chair n feed …
N we dy darling n khattichic which chairs do u guys have?
