Even though, I do it all the time, I would still like to know why we usually say ‘hi’ rather than ‘salam’?

Seriously, Our culture is fading away… :confused:

Salam is not culture, its religion. U need to be able to differentiate b/w the two.

on internet ppl usually prefer short words . my personal reasons is that i mostly say hey rather then salam , but actually i say salam in my daily life

I agree, we should not say "hi" and also not say "salam" and also not say salamalakum (in paindo ishtyle)

But we should say "Assalam-o-Alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu" :) if possible otherwise only Assalam-o-Alaikum

I always say "Salaam" to my Muslim pals when I see them. Even like on MSN or on GupShup and stuff. Saying Salaam means a lot more than just "Hi".

Assalam Alaikum.... and to follow Islamic Culture one should say that always...

By the Way Islam is a Deen....

"Deen" means a way of Life, when Muslims meet each other they Should say Salam and reply with one better than was given.

**and so it is written in our Holy Books....:) **

i agree. i think that is one of the biggest problems we have is that we mix culture and religion.
