Yeh eh, i’ve always said “say-veeyan”.. and I remember the first time i heard “suh-vay-yuh”… i thought the person was an ABCD
My little sister calls them “say-mee-yuh”
Re: hi just a quick question..
lol sweets its because you are too punjabi for the urdustani people :p

:
That's how I pronounce it.
Re: hi just a quick question..
Even RV is too urdustani.
Re: hi just a quick question..
I'm Punjabi....but I didn't know there was a difference in pronunciation based on culture. I've heard it said as "say-veeyan"....and "suh-vay-yuhn." Haven't heard of "semviyaan."
The weirdest I've heard is "sawaaine"...LOL...and that was from a Guyanese family that had desi roots.
Re: hi just a quick question..
I’m just kidding RV. I’ve heard both the Punjabi pronunciations but now I’m all confused which one I use. Never heard sawaaine though

Re: hi just a quick question..
seviyaan, the se sound and the yaan sounds a bit softer
sawaiyyan, the suh sound and the whole waiyyan sounds stronger

Not a bet, I'm just forced to do obnoxious things like agree on the existence of 'semviyaan' LOL
