hmmm i dunno .. if herbal teas were that bad they wudnt b sold i guess.. and that too sooooo many kinds!!! i think usin them everyday wud b bad though. now i m stuck with this herbal tea and i know i shudnt b usin them everyday.. but at the same time dun wanna waste it also.. wot do you all suggest i do??
the links u sent me said teas were so mch better than juices but ofcourse in moderation... not everyday.. so in US do they not give tea to kids at all?? i mean when they(baby) are absolutely ok???

Re: herbal tea for infants??

Yep, I never gave my daughter any herbal teas... not when she was an infant and not even now when she's MashaAllah almost 5.
I usually don't give medicines also unless absolutely needed (if she's in pain or something like that). I also started juices very very late, like around 8 months of age... and used to give just once a week or once in 2 weeks..... she still loves plain water over juices, mashaAllah :) I only gave her cereal and baby food for semi-solids when she was a baby, for liquids it was always either my milk or plain water.

But then my daughter was not colicky, so its your personal choice.... I've forgotten when I started mashed banana, that does help with constipation too.

Re: herbal tea for infants??

Mall, as khawa already indicated, there are lots of different ways professionals and experienced parents advise raising children. No one way is "right."

However, I do feel trying too many different things can make a more sensitive baby worse. If you're trying one method, following one person's advice, then stick to it for a little bit, before trying another. Babies are generally sensitivie, and some are especially so. Be careful before piling one thing on top of another. I may have a wrong impression, but it does seem to me from your posts that maybe there's too much going on for her.

InshAllah she'll settle down soon.

I think if made fresh I would follow a recipe from a reliable source, but they probably need to be diluted. Again, check with your doctor.

Re: herbal tea for infants??

i agree with sahar...

mall keep things really easy for yourself and your girl... you have to give one thing at a time.. for 3 days.. to rule out allergies etc

juices arent really necessary... its just a liquid... which takes up a whole lot of space really fast in their already teeny tiny stomachs... its better to fill it up with say, cereal with pureed fruit in it.

the only liquid you shoudl focus on is milk.. and maybe some water.. even that shouldnt be a whole lot (the water).

inshallah when you girl is one, you can be a bit more daring...

im ony saying this cuz your daughter already has isseus with gas and constipation and colic etc.... keep it really simple for her.

:)

Re: herbal tea for infants??

i dunno y you have the impression i m givin her too many things.. i remember you said the same before too but no i m not givin her anything besides milk, formula, milupa cereal...i m quite sure i remember tellin u in some other thread i m not givin her much. i was just askin abt the juices, havent given her at all as ive said in my earlier posts also.

Re: herbal tea for infants??

^ you said before you've given her fennel tea for two months and various colic remedies.

Re: herbal tea for infants??

i did but stopped since 1 mnth. i used to mk fresh at home but then again these are few of the desi totkas they give for gas prb so i tried it

Re: herbal tea for infants??

besides that doc said infacol wich i give only once a day n thaz nt helpin either,, maybe gAS hs decreased but not eliminated completely

Re: herbal tea for infants??

If the constipation is an issue, maybe stop the cereal for a week or two. Also, rather than giving cereal with fruits, give plain cereal.
