Re: help
If you are in London I would recommend going to the MAC pro store in Carnaby street to check out MAC Full Coverage (pro product). It’s the foundation I choose to use on my wedding (after trying a long list of other brands) and I’m still using it now for everyday wear but very lightly only on my cheeks.
Not only does it give great coverage without having to apply a thick layer but the result in the photos is really good. I get really oily and there’s nothing I can do about it (especially when you’re under the bright lights on the stage) but the oiliness didn’t show up in flash photography at all. Need to finish off with powder though.
I’ve talked about it a lot:
http://www.paklinks.com/gs/fashion-beauty/394233-acne-indents-deep-holes-scarring-2.html#post7163502
and elsewhere but can’t find them now.
But at the end of the day you are basically going to have to try foundations from every brand until you end up with the perfect one for you. It’s really important to take photos in all lighting conditions with it on to see how it looks (colour and finish) and leave it on for a decent amount of time to see how it long lasting wear it is.
Re: help
I second what she said up there.
I used to use Mac Studio Fix anyway, but the Full Coverage is a hundred times better!
I have awful acne scarring and I only use a smidge of Full Coverage...all gone.
Re: help
yeah i was thinking of going for MAC but wasnt so sure as im not a huge make up fan only wear it on occassions not every day wear!
i was thinking of going in to boots and getting a trial done from all the different counters too-
do they do trials at the MAC store?
should i get all my make up from MAC as in blushers eye shadows.liners etc?
Re: help
I wouldn't go to Boots. :)
Where do you live?
They do make up trials at Mac, but if you dont wear make up much I would take a friend/sibling along with you for a second opinion. Make up counter women are lovely, but also very lovely at selling. I am a complete sucker for buying everything they tell me to buy. Don't make the same mistakes!
Re: help
i would deffiently recommend the mac blushers and liners. I use them when i go to work and they last all day like i've jus applied it. Also try out the lipsticks.
I havnt tried the foundation but im gonna try out what 'stoppit' suggestte.d
Re: help
cool looks like i wil be paying a visit to the MAC store!
thanks guys
Re: help
stoppit do u think i can go to any shop that do MAC products? or is it just that shop u have named where they have full range?
Re: help
You’ll have to go to the one I mentioned. It’s 28 Fouberts Place.
Don’t go to boots.
I would not let the mua’s touch you either if you can help it. They are horrible at matching desi skin tones most of the time. Take a friend. Try out some shades in vertical lines on your jaw/cheek and go and look in the daylight which is the best match. Full coverage being a pro line doesn’t have a huge range of shades (I’m lucky as NC30 was a perfect match) so you may need to mix shades… the mua’s can help you out with this as long as you know what shade you roughly want. For desi’s I say it’s better to match with your collarbone area which pretty much ends up also being the same as your exact facial skin colour. Matching with the neck itself usually comes out a much darker shade.
Eyeshadows are great at MAC and you can buy small 4-pan palette’s and then the pan eyeshadow to go in the palette.
Blushes.. they have loads of colours which is great. I prefer Nars or even other high end brands if you can find the shades/finishes you are after.
You may also like the lipsticks and glosses. Perfume and highly perfumed products make me really nauseous so I really like MAC lipsticks as they are just lightly vanilla-y.
MAC mineralised skin finish Naturals are great. I use the one in ‘Dark’ as a non shimmery bronzer and also used it for light contouring on my wedding.
The shimmery ones are also great for highlighting… but nothing where the sparkles are too big. These are usually Limited Ed so I don’t know if anything appropriate is available at the moment.
For me, MAC paint in similar to your skin shade is a must as an eyebase. I use Bare Canvas.
I’m also a big fan of MAC fluidline eyeliner but it’s a bit tricky to use especially for someone who doesn’t really wear makeup.
Have a look at the Select Sheer Pressed Powder too. It’s what I use on top of Full Coverage but in a lighter shade as it oxidises.
These are just suggestions for products that you can have a look at and play around with in store and see what you like.
Re: help
Take lots of MAC. I am sure you won't like to spend a lot since you already have enough expenses. MAC is pretty reasonable compared to other high end brands.
I recommend you buy everything from MAC as far as eyeshadows, blushes, poweder, lipsticks, glosses etc..
For liners, mascara.. drug store..
I am giving you that advice assuming you don't want to spend too much.
Re: help
Erg, almost forgot. Dior Skinflash!!! The love of my life.
Re: help
yep definetley mac..... im gettin married in october but before i move to pak in septmber ive been gradually buying all the neccessary stuff like mac foundation to mac primers lol but its abit easier for me cos im working at the airport i get discount on mac aswell as being able to pop into the store on my break and buy everything bit by bit
Re: help
Thanks Stoppit.. I am in the same boat and bought loads of MAC stuff .. just so rubbish at using them
you know what i did find which is great.. Loreal Skin primer.. can find in Superdrug..
It gives you skin a smooth texture so that when you apply the foundation, makes it look flawless
Re: help
Loreal skin primer, I will try that, Does anyone use clinique? My cousin uses it and swears back it, Is it better than MAC??
Re: help
^Sounds good Confucius. I find I don't need primer with Full Coverage, just well moisturised skin that has been left to settle before foundation application.
Liquid or powder foundations can usually do with a primer though.
Re: help
Clinique is good too but mac photographs better.
U can usually get samples of clinique makeup if u ask at the counter.
Re: help
Went into Max.. and couldn't find the full coverage one..
I tried the studio fix.. and wasn't so great
No 41 was close to my skin
no 42 gave more of a colour but I looked like a tangoed WAG
Re: help
Studio Fix isn't suitable for wedding makeup anyway.
Did you go to the MAC on Fouberts Place, that's the only one that carries Full Coverage. I got some samples for someone else from there last week.
:nono:
It’s not nice at all! I’ve bought so many bottles and types of clinique foundations and powders hoping and praying they’d turn-out to be good..
I’ve been disappointed everytime sigh
Re: help
i went to Mac too and tried full coverage. for one thing it didn't giv me full coverage and i couldn't find the right shade. the shade that came close still looked fake on me.
i'm gonna try jane iredale next.
