Help! Where to move in Pakistan (MERGED)

Which place in Pakistan would be a good place to live that follows this criteria:

  1. Has an apartment
  2. Masjid
  3. Malls
  4. Recreational stuff, stuff to do outside, a basketball court for example
  5. Clean
  6. Is not expensive
  7. A fair amount of people who speak englis (my urdu is horrible)

If I need to be more specific, please tell me to.

Haroon please be precise.... i mean.. why you are moving into Pakistan... where u from.... do you intend to live permanently... or some business to be taken care of... if permanently... what are your strengths.... business or job... wat sort of job.... you have to tell us more details before me or anyone else can sincerly guide you about.... if you like not disclosing everything here... you can PM me if you liike...

  1. Im from America
  2. I want to move due to several reasons. I dont like it here, money is too much of an issue in USA. I want a simple life, plus learn urdu and be in solitude for a while.
  3. Most likely I will be permanently there.
  4. Stregnths - Computers, I got a good resume for someone my age. I showed it to a paki over there who is in the IT field and said I would be able to get a job fairly easy, this guy is in Karachi. I would be able to pull in some money from webdesign with my buddy here who has a company.

The serious Answer is

Islamabad & yes only in Islamabad not in Rawalpindi. Other choices can be Karachi or Lahore but no other city can fulfil ur requirements, particularly if u are not prepared to learn Urdu.

If u dont make Islamabad as ur primary choice then I would suggest, if you have Urdu speaking background then I would suggest u should think of moving to Karachi ... otherwise Lahore.

Well its good to have a job in Pakistan to learn about the working environment but I would think of starting y own work after a little while particularly if u are planning to stay there for long period of time or permanently.

do you know what the basic total expense would be for living in lahore or islamabad and karachi would be?

  3. Internet

Salam:

Well, haroon the rent of apartments varies from its quality and location. But that will be in range 6000 - 10000. (Accomodation is really a big problem in islamabad)

I would not suggest that you get a full apartment if you are alone. There are other options available as well.

Food will not be as expensive as accomodation. It will cost 1500 - 2000 for very good food per month.

Now cable internet is available with very good speed here in isb. It will cost about 1000 - 1500.

So it will be about 10,000. in total if you get a normal accomodation.

I am using a shared accomodation and it costs me about 6000 per month without internet connection.

Well I dont live in Pakistan but I think in Pakistan its better to get a house than apartment. Apartments (apart from karachi) is not a good idea.

Well in simple & straight words if you are making around Rs 20,000 or over per month you can live simple & acceptable life (provided if you are single or a couple - no children).
