Ok so my mother won’t let me spend more then $100 or maybe $200 on makeup since she thinks i already have a lot of crap…so i was wondering if you guys can help me buy useful stuff because i just go crazy whenever i go to Mac store and get everything colorful that appeals to my eyes at that time and then i realize i can wear it for small get togethers and/ or normal days at times when i feel like putting makeup.
I want **eyeshadows/ lipsticks (neutral/light colors good for desi skin/which can be worn on parties and or normal days…i am not into dark colors these days) **( hey by the way are matte lipsticks back? i so want a pink matte lipstick like how they show it in magazines and t.v that the person is all natural only a bit dark pink lipstick)/ a new foundation since the old ones either make me look orange or dark for some reason…rest i am going to get like a new primer/cream color base and paint..
Does your make-up have to be Mac? You can use go for drug-store brands for stuff which you would like buy on a whim and wouldn't wear much. Shopper's Drug mart has great deals on make-up every week; just keep an eye on their flyer and then buy when your favorite cosmetic is on sale. Good luck!
Nope, i want mac only...i have trashed all the other companies but after a while they don't seem to suit my skin.. :s only the foundations because the mac ones make me look orange orange...

I like MAC foundation, but if it doesn't work for you, go to Sephora. There, you will find a variety of cosmetic lines. Have an expert apply foundations on you and help you select the appropriate shade. Note, you will not find MAC at Sephora.
I really like MAC eye shadows and lipsticks. MAC has a small range of matte lipsticks. If you want a nice pink matte lipstick from MAC, try Taupe. It's neutral shade compliments many skin tones, including Desi, and it's quite popular. There is a nice matte brown shade as well (think its called Chelsea) that I plan to buy in the near future.
Hopefully you won't go over board, because if you're looking for neutral shades, you can't purchase many. Cuz there are only a few neutral shades to begin with.
Instead of buying on impulse, try the shades out in the store first to see which ones you like. That'll save u time and money. For eye shadows, as opposed to buying just one........buy a single compact of **multiple **eye shadows that will apply to you. You can buy a compact that contains neutral colors, or bold colors. Have the expert at the store direct you according to your needs.

Thanks...I always do that go to the store get whatever i like on display and then later on i keep on regretting..this time i have made a list and i will go and check the stuff on the list first and then buy it.
^ Me too, I'm yellowish/wheatish as well. I have strong yellow undertones in my skin like you. So, you should try the taupe matte lipstick. It goes well with yellow/olive skin tones.
Oh really...i am so happy to meet you...i need help with shades and even foundation because all of a sudden all my foundations make me look grey/chalky and dark..plus obviously since i have oily skin it makes it look worse.
If you are olive/yellow like me, then you need foundations which are yellow based. I use MAC's Studio Fix Fluid in NC 44. It's more yellow and blends into my skin so well that I can barely tell that I'm wearing it. But I had the makeup artists try a few shades on me first, before buying on that worked.
Another brand of foundation that I like is Stila. That have some yellow in their foundations. I believe the last one I tried was Stila Illuminating Liquid Foundation in 50 W. The W stands for Watts. 50 watts is the shade best suited for medium complexions with yellow undertones. 60 and 80 watts is best suited for more darker complexions with yellow undertones. So, if you'r not dark and more olive, I'd go with the 50. You can find Stila at Sephora! Actually you can find anything (except for MAC) at Sephora! Just go there and tell an artist what type of foundation u're looking for and have them apply and match it to your skin. An expert can recommend a matching foundation suited for oily skin.

I do always ask the people working in Mac to help me out but one lady gave me a match which was exactly my color but just after looking at other things in the shop when i looked at myself in the mirror i looked really dark..like muddy..and then i asked another one to help me out and she was like since you have a oily skin use a foundation thats one shade lighter then your shade that way it wont make you look dark i did that and now all of a sudden i am not liking it :s it makes me look weird in pictures..i don't know if the camera is bad or the foundation..but yes i still get dark every time apply anymake up and when i wash my face people are like fair and lovely say moo dho kar aayi ho ;S which is pretty embarressing you know..
I would never trust MAC makeup artists. If studio fix makes you look yellow, why dont you try studio tech? and studio fix foundtion plus powder is also really good - at times it would make you look cakey, so just use fix spray for that.
I think mac foundations work differently for everyone. What you have to do is figure it out on your own, dont go by their NC and NWs..test different shades on yourself and see which one is the closest match to your skintone.
