I live abroad and would like to book a hall in PC- karachi by the end of this year. I called them last night and found out that there are 3 halls that can hold upto 400-450 people.
Hall
Ballroom
Zaver Hall
Marque Hall
I doubt I’ll be going to pak anytime soon but would like to book the halls before everything is taken. Can someone kindly send me some recent pics of these halls. Did anyone visit one of these halls recently? I checked out some pics off the internet but it doesn’t help at all. Please let me know which one is the best one to book. All your opinions and help will be greatly appreciated.
As much description regarding these halls would be a help too. I called/ e-mail PC regarding all the info but they are of no help. I didn’t get a response from them yet and I doubt I will.
I used to work there as a fav' for Uncle cos' he wanted me to use my 'accent' with his foreign friends!! Actually I just use to eat in all the restaurants with the guests and talk to them! Hehe! Good days!
Anyway, ballroom is very nice. All the halls are nice and they have their own wedding planner too. But staff at PC hotel get very confused dealing with foreign calls!! Lol! Ask them to put you through to their wedding planner or a senior manager. I witnessed a lot of problems when people would book from abroad. They would turn up and be so dissapointed with everything. Do you have any uncles or fam' here who can help you book the hall?
You need to go to them in person really by appointment, they ask for this as it makes things easier...and read their contract etc and discuss everything you want/ need from them for your wedding. They have a really good wedding co-ordinator. Not sure if she still works there but she can assist with flowers, food, sofa's, carpets to match your dress etc. Also I noticed this that they halve the halls a lot i.e one hall will two separate weddings with a border down the middle. Its annoying but so many people accept it just to get a place in PC! This happens in busy season e.g. Dec - and PC do this to make tons of money! Hehe! If you want a full hall for 400 guests they will expect you to bid for it and take your full details etc only in person though. Highest bidder gets full halls in Dec' season.
Thanks alot iggle- unfortunaltely I don't have immediate family there so I will have to deal with all this on the phone. I have an uncle there who will prob help me make a deposit to book in advance. So you suggest that I go for the ballroom. I've heard from many of my friends here regarding ballroom too. I would like the entire hall. Thanks for telling me the dividing the hall stuff. Will make sure they don't do that for my wedding.
Would u be able to tell me the cost per person? - estimate would work.
skymona well the Wedding Planner name is Hina last time I talked with her as I live abroad to and want to book too for my wedding. you can call PC directly and they will forward ur call to the banquet department.you freely ask her everything and tell her the date she will definetly help u out and yeh for me noone there to deposit money I dont know how ill manage that :'(
From what I recall they asked for roughly 50% deposit at the time of booking. I don't have any photos. Will look around the net for you for photos. You pay according to hour and I think...maybe I am wrong but minimum is 3 hours booking plus. During busy seasons they limit weddings to 3-4 hours to get several weddings in one day and their people urge you to get rid of your guests when time is running out - quite a funny scene!! Evening slots run out first then afternoons and around Sep' they have lunch slots left. So book ahead. (But cheeky lot always save slots for certain weddings e.g. staff)
Cost per person can vary from Rs 600/- to Rs 3000/- it all depends on where your catering from. Of course prices get higher than that too. Using the hotel's restaurants can be very expensive but if you do this you can limit your guests. Some would ask for Sakutu, one of the best Japanese restaurants which is on the upper floor. If you order food from there for your wedding it can be very pricey! Their buffet is cheaper.
Then price for decor in the hotel is seperate, flowers etc.
thanx skymona. And yes one more question is it safe these days to have a wedding in hotels. Means the time our country is going through???but I want my wedding in a hotel only. I have heard about marriot as well.
I think its okay to do your wedding at hotels. Its a little pricy but worth it.
I got some info on Marriot from someone. They charge around $1500 per person including food. But their halls aren't as pretty as PCs. Thus, I want my wedding at PC.
I am not sure if you can get catering from outside at PC. I doubt you can.
u know skymoona ill tell u one thing last year in January me n my mom made reservation at PC-Karachi for my wedding that time total payment was made about 2 lac 50,000 for about 350 people with a per person of 800Rs well the planner didnt mention the hall charges and gave us a apckage like this my mom paid the advance as well but the wedding didnt happen and they returned the money back. they r v nice. right now dont know whats happening there.
Hey angle eyes- Are u still having your wedding at PC ?? Do u find their charges resonable. I also have a menu list that I can e-mail u. Its huge so I am not sure if I should paste everything here. Hope this helps.
The font changes when I try pasting the menu and the charges.
Don't tell them btw that you are coming from abroad. They will tell you rates in dollars and if you ask in Rupees - give you a higher rate. They know how to make money!
The prices you quoted were very high indeed! Did the wedding planner quote all those prices?
